My memory is that fencing (kryss) was faster and that's why i had it on my warrior back then. However, the data tells a different story. Swords has such diversity and apparently the fastest weapon so can't go wrong with swords. Unless of course you like stamina draining maces.

Cortez,
Please read this thread here below to understand what I was specifically talking about.

I am switching to Swords from Fencing on my warrior because that .10 seconds or whatever really does have an effect. I still kill most of the people that I attack, even guys using katanas... the problem is, it's at such a disadvantage here that if you were to stand still kryss vs katana everything being GM and 100% you would lose. I don't know about you guys... but that just seems fucked up.
I say make them the same speeds. I know that the data says otherwise, but if we all remember it being a certain way throughout the whole of our UO experience then really should we accept it this way? I always preferred fencing to swords simply because the Kryss looked cooler. I don't wanna go to no jap weapon simply because "they" say its the fastest.
What, was it one patch that kryss was faster than katana? I don't even remember it...

XaN,
If you read my post that was just before your post you would see what the problem is for them currently.

The weapon tables that They are emulating here lists the kryss at 53 speed and the katana at 58. Derrik posted a link to the tables in one of the threads but I personally don't remember the katana being faster than the kryss.
http://www.uosecondage.com/stratics/arms.html - This is the weapon table they say they are emulating.
In the T2A manual that shipped with the CD the tables lists the kryss at 53 speed and the katana at 48 speed. This is what I remember to be accurate but I may have quit before the supposed changes took place.

What t2a manual are you referring too? I have an earlier and a mid-late '99 manual and cd for this era. The very first manual lists speed as a comment not a number. For example, katana and kryss is listed as "very fast". The second manual doens't even have either in it. Would you please scan it and submit a screenshot of your manual?

Faust, unfortunately I don't have a scanner otherwise I would be happy to do that for You. There is a pdf that Derrick posted of another T2A manual. I downloaded it and took a look at its weapon tables and they rate speeds by exact numbers and are congruent with the values I have in my manual.
Here's the thread with the pdf on the bottom post
http://forum.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1456
It contains the weapons information that I remember to be accurate to the time I played.
Once again, I may have quit before these were changed.
Derrick seems set on staying with what is in place although he has expressed some doubt. He says the the tables he's using went in with the Anatomy patch of
February '99 yet when I looked at the page he posted that contains those tables in order to find a date it said at the bottom: "Last modified:
03/11/2008 06:43:13"
There's a lot in this table that seems wrong in my opinion. I just can't ever remember anything like this and the date at the bottom is in congruent with the date of the patch that we are supposedly trying to emulate here. Maybe he just didn't notice the date at the bottom of the page since the font is so small. Anyways I still believe we should go with the tables in the manual. In the meantime I'll see if I can find a patch release not that shows when the tables he is using now were implemented. Perhaps that might prove that the manual is more recent than the tables hes using.

He uses this table because it dates all the way back to Spring of '99 in the archive for Stratics. It was the same table used in Ultima Online from that point on all the way past the AoS expansion. There were three documented changes in the patch notes that indicates that there were three sets up tables used for weapons. One in early '98 and one in late '98 around the release of t2a.

Fuast, the tables he's going with are not from Spring of '99 from what I can tell. If you go to the page and look way down at the bottom it will say March of '98. Is this not accurate?

Eagle,
I know that is what it says at the bottom of that table... I said that "specific" table dates all the way back to Spring of '99 in the archives.
http://www.waybackmachine.com
This is an internet archives web site that records every single web site pretty much and archives it. If you go there you can see that this particular weapons table that we use dates all the way back to Spring of '99.
This topic has been discussed on several occassions in the past here.

That March 2008 date is the date I copied the file over to our webserver, it's reading the file save date.
You can find the original in the wayback machine, I just saved it becuase these things have a tendancy to vanish in the archives.
Here's the archived version:
