I remember killing painters and artists in Occlo for sandals that were blue and red but I do not think they were ever black. I would just say vendor move, vendor move etc. till I got them out of town guards then killed them for the paintbrush and the cool cloths. The rangers at times had really cool red and greenish sandals...also there were whips in the barrels near there and you could use a pitcher on the barrels full of water to remove the water so you could take them.
