Is there any way to legally have more than 9 houses here? I didn't think so, but maybe I am missing something...

You can have 15 houses and remain within the shard rules - One per char, 3 accounts.

Wow! This whole time I thought for some reason that you could only have 3 characters per account. I logged into one of my accounts to verify this and it looked like it was going to allow me to create another character after all. Interesting. I stand corrected!
