Any objections to removing it?
I am also biased but no objection here. Then again, as with any tourney rule that 'weakens' mages I think you'll always see the dexxers vote yes and the mages vote no. Lol.
Meh, if you're prepared with a few pouches, it really is a bonus for you since the other person is just burning mana needlessly. That being said, I don't really care too much either way but I'm suggesting to just remove it entirely from the tourney ruleset.
Faust wrote:It would be nice if para and precasting heal was both removed. What I mean by precasting heal is when you have a prepped heal up and equip a weapon it would wipe the target. All this creates in GvG's in tournaments is people prepping gheal and using refreshed hally hits. Prep heal is already shunned in a 1v1's situation.
If you could do this specifically for 1v1 tournaments, by all means, please do. However, having this change apply to everything else as well would be a big no-no.

Being able to prep heal in any tournament is lame. This applies for GvG as well. Sitting there refreshing your hallie with prepped heals is pathetic. All it comes down to is who can get the most hally hits in. It essentially cuts out having to use any offensive spells at all. I'm still surprised to see how many people prep heal on here. I'm only talking about those who prep heal and load a weapon afterwards. If you did that back in the day you would be considered a laughing stock.

1v1 yes, I totally agree.
You're dead wrong on the GvG part though and the fact that your contemplating such a change is a bit worrying.

eh, I'm only wrong to those who have grown accustomed to the use of it since '99, especially on the free shard scene. I can live with it regardless of the matter though. Anyone who preps heal and wields a weapon is still lame in any situation. It is just stupid when people are sitting there refreshing hallies with prepped gheals constantly. Why cast an offensive spell when you can hally ever 2 seconds with x for the amount of people without wasting mana while also having a prepped heal ready? When anyone starts prepping heal the other party typically will do it in response. This causes the previous statement to the last sentence that I stated.

Think about it in a 2v2 faust,
If one team gets up explodes, the other would then have to hold up heals and not swing their weapon, getting mana raped while waiting to be dumped on.
If you think it's lame in any situation... you need to step away from the coding and learn how to pvp again.

I agree with Faust.
Using weapons with a greater heal precasted is douchebaggery. I can't think of a situation off the top of my head where it can be justified.
That INCLUDES 2v2 and 3v3 tournaments.

In that case one person would hold up a heal and the other would continue offensively. A common tactics was to throw up a gheal hit prepped wait slightly, cancel the target, and hit with a hally and immediately cast another gheal. By the time a sync dump would occur the heal would be ready, along with your partners already prepped heal. I can understand where you're coming from in that scenario, but the problem still persists for those who prefer ghealing and simply hally hitting over and over without offensive spells. The situation that you mentioned isn't completely futile to counter.
Those that prep healed in any situation would lose any respect in a dueling situation back in the day. UOR has only converted most playstyles into a strict defensive posture only. I can live with or without it regardless of the matter like I said though. It would just make dueling more accurate on the lines of the rulesets applied back in the day. Prep healing was considered more vile than pots, para, and poisoned weapons during t2a.

ORLY?
Or maybe you need to think about how to counter this. I can think of several possibilities.

I can understand that. I even agree with that up until you saying any situation. 1 v 1 imo is lame. But otherwise You're right.

I need to get out of this thread before my head explodes.

I was alluding to when Faust said it is lame in any situation. Personally, I agree it's lame in 1v1 but absolutely necessary in anything above that.

I would never suggest something like this applying to open field fights. That would simply be beyond ignorant and inaccurate for that matter son. Accuracy is one of the main goals for this shard. We would never change something to combat that did not exist outside of event pvp.
The tournaments rules are based on "common sense" rulesets during era for duels. I've already stated prep healing was considered more vile than pots, para, and even poisoned weapons. Why would it not apply to tournaments as well?

Fine, Faust. There is no point arguing, you would have to see what happens. I am warning you that it would not be good, but I guess if you can't see it go ahead and change it up.

I'm not changing anything up. I merely made the suggestion based on well known rulesets that existed during era. I'm surprised anyone would even support prep healing and wielding a weapon in any given situation. With the amount of prep healing I see on here it really shouldn't surprise me though. Was this a common tactic when pre casting was reimplemented in UOR?

Name one.
Keeping in mind the following: a fastcasted lightning is faster than a GH (and an ebolt), poison does nothing on this server, and if you only have one heal up you are rolling the dice (something good video games/players try to avoid).
