Re: Ingame Auction! (Seeking sellers)
Okie, I'll add three items, all picked up from chests (brand new):
bow, fortified +25 vanq
scimitar, +25 vanq with 25 charges of burning (magic arrow)
quarter staff, silver +15 vanq
I'll also add some other stuff:
1000 empty bottles
5000 fish steaks
5000 arrows
2000 bolts

Re: Ingame Auction! (Seeking sellers)
Well, as far as I know, if the items are in a secure chest and I am the only person friended/co-owned to the tower/keep then only I can get to those items. So thats one line of security. Second is that there will be a bar build around the auction area and the auctioneer plus one or two alts that can res will be logged out in it. Thus the bar will never be lifted and no way for someone to sneak in.
Obviously, it would be prudent to friend some other defenders so more than one person can ban trouble makers but this reduces the security of a secure container. So against those helping out, the bar would be the only line of defense.
I am up for suggestions if you feel there is more that can be done. But it is a very good question and a very good point.
What will keep theives from running up to players and stealing items that are transfered after the sale? I suggest a second set of bars for winners so the transaction can be totally secure.
I think I will have some good items to add to this auction as well

Someone named Red Devil had something like this going. You're setup looks almost identical.

Yeah, I believe I said that all items would be transferred at a later time. Not directly after or during the event. There will be specific rules (such as 'must pick up in X days') when the actual event is scheduled.Robbbb wrote: What will keep theives from running up to players and stealing items that are transfered after the sale? Yeah, I use to go all the time. That is old Rojo Diablo...i.e. rojo who I mentioned in the original post and that picture IS his auction tower. Lol.Omnicron wrote:Someone named Red Devil had something like this going. You're setup looks almost identical.

I liked the system where you can buy from a vendor, personally. That way if you're there for one item, you can buy it and run rather than waiting on someone to get it for you later on. You would run into the occasional person who would buy it out from under someone, but they were quickly banned and I believe on this shard, you have to be within 3 blocks from the vendor, which would make it easy to buy, recall out, and come back when you're ready.
This is one of those times where I would really miss custom housing.

I think items should be sold on the spot so that will prevent people from bidding and then not paying and you lose out on the entire concept. You can set it up the vendor inside the 'safe' area and allow the winning bidder into a one spot section that is just close enough to purchase the item then recall out 100% safe. This will prevent fraud and people messing up the auction on purpose.

Well, my concern there is two fold.Robbbb wrote:Ronk wrote: Yeah, I believe I said that all items would be transferred at a later time. Not directly after or during the event. There will be specific rules (such as 'must pick up in X days') when the actual event is scheduled.

1. Thieves. Though I could possibly put items on all sides so someone who steps up can't be robbed.
2. I am not super familiar with vendors. If I drop an item on a vendor but haven't set the price yet...can it be bought? Id hate for there to be a 'window' where a person can nab it for cheap before I can type a price.
Good ideas though, Ill def look into it.
Yes, sellers can be anonymous. Just let me know clearly so I don't screw up. I will be posting an item list before the auction and, in fact, I may not even post seller names. Currently ive been doing it to keep an idea of who is interested. Can sellers be anonymous and will you have a list of the items being sold before the auction(maybe sample a few high value and low value items if the list is too long)?
Re: Ingame Auction! (Seeking sellers)
Just an update. I think there is more than enough sellers interested at this point so I will be planning a date/time for this auction. I am still not entirely happy with the location I have but since people can recall/gate, it shouldn't really matter.
I am leaning toward a sunday night around 9-10pm EST, as that is peak time to maximize potential buyers. If anyone wants to make suggestions regarding the time or location, now is a good time. Note: The location I use will be one that leaves me or someone extremely trusted in charge of the building. I have no plans to risk every ones loot to some borrowed establishment.

Yes you would need to make the blockade a full circle where ONLY that one spot can access the vendor and no theif can reach the buyer.Ronk wrote: Well, my concern there is two fold.

You would set the item on the vendor and place the price...make sure that it is set correctly and THEN allow the purchaser into the 'purchasing zone'. That way there is no mistake in the pricing and its 100% secure.
Re: Ingame Auction! (Seeking sellers)
