I'd like to see more non-PVP style events like trivia contests, hide and seek, mazes, deco contests, and that type of thing. Those of us who don't PVP don't have a hell of a lot to do.
Bagball is not the same at all. It's called Capture the Capital, ask Rose about it.

I wish I had time to contribute, but the least I can share is ideas. I appreciate the work people do to make events happen, though I'm perfectly happy to just Choose My Own Adventure too. Anyway, an idea.

An Amazing Race could be doable I think, as I mentioned before. For those of you who are not familiar with the tv show, contestants are given a clue as to where they should go next (copied into a book would be best). Once they arrive at the correct checkpoint, they are given a task that must be completed before they get the next clue to the next checkpoint (and eventually the finish point).

Someone mentioned moving a ton of ore from one place to another... that kind of thing would be a perfect checkpoint challenge for an Amazing Race. So, gather x amount of logs, move x amount of whatever, bring n amount of npc heads, cheese wheels, carrots or whatever item etc.

The clue could include not just the destination, but other requirements as well. You can impose whatever you find funny... players must arrive shirtless with a pink skirt, wearing a feathered cap, armed with a pitchfork, carrying a cake or whole roast pig or whatever (pass to the checkpoint judge for validation and to get your next clue). Must have 8 tamed rabbits, rats, cats or birds (or 1 of each etc) with them upon arrival at the checkpoint (less than the required number=time penalty of some kind). Whatever crazy thing you can think of. The next clue will have the next destination and the next zany requirements.

In general, the tasks should be something that even a fairly new character with maybe a few thousand gold could conceivably do.

Sometimes travel is restricted, ie, must take the bus, which in Britannia would translate to must walk, must arrive on horseback, must arrive on green ostard (blue=one minute penalty etc.), must arrive by official (ie. event organizers' )boat (some point on the shore could be a checkpoint, and a game organizer would ferry them to whatever island and then go back to the checkpoint to pick up the next arrivals) etc. Failure to use the right means of transport might not always necessarily be a disqualification, but incurs a time penalty, ie. you won't be given the next clue until 5 minutes have passed on. But recalling when you are supposed to go by boat, I mean, that might as well be disqualification. In the case of the finish line, if another player arrives while you're still in the midst of a time penalty, then they might win even though you came first.  The requirements and the time penalty for not meeting them can be printed in the book along with the clue.

You'd need a judge or two at each checkpoint to verify who gets there first (second, third etc), and to hand over a book containing the clue to the next location. The judge ought to be able to snoop packs to verify that no rules are being broken (you might impose a rule that no spellbooks are allowed).

Prizes can be whatever the organizers can afford to give. There can be small prizes awarded for being first to the checkpoint(you might be last place at one checkpoint and arrive first at the next one) and the major prize for being first place overall.

I think we need to have a spring cleaning even so most of us can trade in all of our junk and get rewards for Hoarding lol

I have an idea for Veterans Day. I think there should be faction sign ups available for that day. And signals put up in the towns. And whatever faction holds most the signals in the end be declared the winner and receive prizes for doing so. Ie... event named items. Silver ect..

I have always had one complaint about town invasions. They are in just one town.

My fondest memory of a UO event was when orcs were EVERYWHERE. Minax was ruling the world that month.

You couldn't go to ANY town without being swarmed by orcs.

I think this would be the best event ever. It would later devolve into undead attacks (those orcs just won't stay dead).

Orcs you say? ;-)

My big rant with events is how everyone wnats to be given shit for them. Play for fun or go farm in a dungeon, events shouldn't be free silver give aways.

A town invasion should be an annoyance to all players until a brave few step up and protect them. My idea of an event.

I think there are a few who agree with me when I say that a very chaotic "WTF" jumpin server is always going to beat out a "sit at the bank and macro or steal stuff" server. If you at least turned on the spawn in 3 towns and just left it on for a week and let pks roam the streets of said towns, it'd be amazing. While we do this, all trammel events need turned off.

Have a story that tells that on a certain day "if we can just hold these cities long enough" we might can ALL take out the boss. This boss, after you win, will teleport everyone to a Awesome monster bash game where the final battle happens. People will get their trophies and possibly derrick body parts after working their asses off for the whole week.

This in turn promises a trophy but makes you do more than 30 minutes to an hour to get it. Sure, keep your lil 1 in 2000 silver drops on orcs too if that helps.

But yeah some sort of global event would be pretty cool, perhaps it could start at one point on the map and spread from there? Like 1 town get overwhelmed per week?

Yea a but i think the event should be PVP based, with some mild pvp, like monsters of the factions could be based in the towns that are captured by that faction.. ect.. something like that would be cool I think.. and Guardianknight stole that signature from Kith.. lol
