They are definitely different in some way. Log on UOGamers hybrid for example, they are using the type of speech shown there. The hue is considerably different and it's obviously highly different when making a smiley face - the bracket is far longer. You could also use special characters, such as ©, I believe. In the old style writing special characters would not show - hence why you could fill your macros with them and have them spam across the screen.

In a future update, we will be adding the ability to toggle this via the options menu.

I do recall some people having cooler smiley faces, which was the main difference in fonts

Sando, every client does but it does not do anything in terms to the client showing that text chosen.

irrelevant, these options do not change how how speech appears to others.

during t2a you either had one or the other "fonts" (for lack of a better word). i'm surprised other people don't remember this tbh
