So how exactly do we use this client? Just point Razor to it and use it on the live server or is there a way to do it offline in a tutorial mode?

You could murder the kids in Ultima 8 too.

Nightshark: I have a theory that the UO Pre-Alpha has more in common with Ultima 8 than modern Ultima Online, in terms of file structure and code. I've been investigating this in the past few days and there is indeed a certain degree of descent from U8 to UO.

Ok, I have downloaded these programs and can't figure out how to get them working. When I click on the client it opens Internet Explorer and then a menu pops up to download the client again. When I click on the iso, a program opens up with a menu prompting me to "burn image" to a CD. What am I doing wrong here?

The archive, you can extract to any directory.
The ISO, you can burn to CD, or use Daemon Tools to run as a Virtual CD. Alternatively, you can also open the ISO image in WinRAR and treat it as any other archive.
I should stress the point that, as far as I am aware, these clients do not have any emulators running compatible server software online. In other words do NOT expect to connect to any server with these clients. I uploaded them for archival purposes and for use as an information resource; they contain data which cannot be found in any modern Ultima distribution, such as kids and gimp masks.
I never thought I'd use those two nouns in the same sentence.

Most of my sentences are specifically about kids and gimp masks.
I don't recall the old sphereserver client versions. I think most were 2.0.3 or lower. I haven't looked at this cd yet, which era is it? I think 1.25 was t2a so any of the older emus should work.. uox3/sphere/pol and their various spin offs
if you cant find em Im pretty sure i have some old sphere servers from the early 2000s that are all set up already.

1.25 was the original release, the first version of UO to hit the stores.
Unless you can find a copy of UOX2 or FUSE online, we'd be hard pressed to get the client working with any modern emulator.

I just did some digging, I have TUS 48e (what sphere used to be). Reading the ini file it should work with 1.25. I'll set up a shard and try to connect later. If it works I can upload the working package

TUS 48e is a bust, it wants at least 1.26.x, unforunately. I dug a little more and found Graysvr 37o which wants 1.25.37 at least. After some internet investigation I found a dude who actually had a 1.25 client working somewhat with RunUO - I've emailed him. We'll see if this takes me anywhere.
If I can get the needed info just to patch the 1.25 client encryption we're golden.

Panthor,
I've got a patched 1.25.35 on JoinUO:
http://www.joinuo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=644
Probably the encryption in there is similar to 1.25.37. If-so it can be disabled easily. If you have that client for download somewhere I can look at it and hopefully patch it.
