Not to be a bummer, but something most non-Jews don't know...lots of Jewish parents at some point make their kids watch a documentary on the Holocaust so its never forgotten. It's not so much to honor the dead. It's so it never happens again. ANYONE who doesn't see the big deal in that picture is a racist against Jews. The real sad thing is that people are willing to raise their hands in a public forum. Scares the crap out of most Jews, just so you know.

Although to be fair, many here can't perceive the difference between a fart joke and a racial slur. So let's not set the bar too high.

Apparently either because 1) some people don't see any harm in ethnic slurs and 2) it creates a HUGE burden on the admin to enforce an anti-slur rule (i.e., about 5 minutes a year), we continue to live with this crap from dumbass bigots, in-game and out. Congrats to everyone who takes the bury-your-head-in-the-sand-approach. Same family of moronic logic used by people who voted against civil rights legislation in the sixties.

its UO guys. dont take it to seriously. if anyone that played this game during the t2a era were to stumble upon this website, and consider playing again for old times sake, im sure the pic of the day with a dragon named Holocaust wouldnt turn them away. its not like this is a giant billboard in your town advertising hatred. its a single picture, on a web forum for a very small niche of video gamers, that USUALLY have pretty thick skin if they managed to play and enjoy this game in the first place. just enjoy the game and stop worring about what everyone else thinks. looking at the UO world is not a good way to grasp an understanding of real world society.

Isn't a question of thick skin. Nobody's losing sleep over this. I just think if you have an opportunity to make a little dent in a problem, you should do it. If you have an opportunity to send a little message to a mixed-up teenager, who doesn't understand the evil power of racism, then send a little message.

Choices are, do nothing and things will just chug along. OR do a little something and maybe they'll get a little better. Personally I think it's irresponsible to opt for the former.

Think of it this way. Some little punk starts calling his chars ethnically objectionable names. Then his buddies do it. Then their buddies do it. Either in UO, or in some other game, or in RL. Why would we want to foster an environment where it is even remotely acceptable to use the N word and joke about killing Jews? (rhetorical question)

Isn't about that for me, I don't know why people always bring this kind of crap up when someone posts about this.

I'm not offended on some personal level at all, I don't care, I know there are a bunch of immature crap talking idiots in pretty much every MMO out there. I know for a certain demographic of person it's quite the thrill to toss around racist terms etc...it's the internet, people like that everywhere. I know no one is going to fix racism by trying to get people to get along in UO.

What it's about is the perception of the shard by people who want to play here.

Don't know if you've noticed, but there has been a decent sized exodus of players recently, granted plenty may not have been here long regardless, but I think it's worth asking the question, when a new player sees a pic like this as the pic of the day, is that a good thing for shard population?

We already have a ton of people running around with stupid, racist, and otherwise low brow names, again I am willing to put up with it because I like the shard, and have gamed for a while, nothing new. However i'm not so sure everyone has a thick skin about it, and I don't think it's a good idea to have a pic like as the public face of the shard.

Not in my control obviously, just my two cents on the subject.

Holocaust was a lie; Russians killed more Jews than the Germans. Americans also holocausted German POWs after the war.
