AFK macroing taming is not considered resource gathering. The difference between macroing a resource gathering skill and taming is the fact that when a player afk macros resources, they produces goods, with little to no initial resource input on their part, that can be sold to vendors and players. Taming does not produce these same results.

on the contrary mining doesnt produce the ingot, it produces the ore in which to make the ingot.
Taming does not make the leather armor, but it produces the animal to get the leather for the armor.
what other reason was there for taming all those animals...I seen the same guy trying to tame a dragon in Wind today so you know it wasnt for skill gains.
People were complaining so I checked up on it. He and his buddy/alt? took turns just sitting there while the animals spawned ...they have been doing this for days and it was getting to be a nuisance.
So I tamed half the lot myself before he had a chance to retarget and retame once they went wild and fed them to the mongbats and orcs outside. I only used a two second timer so I was on it.
The rules should apply to everyone. Unless stated otherwise this was a way to get bulk leather. No other reason behind it.
I don't mean to be a jerk but whether I keep sheep for wool or herd animals for leather it doesnt seem to make a difference.
When I found out the day that gathering wool afk was against the rules (though I was never afk but was about to be) having found out in irc that it was illegal I didnt contnue on through the night.
If its okay to do then dont get mad if other people do it as well. All I am saying.

There are several differences between mining and taming. First off, mining is the only way in which to obtain ore, which is directly related to the ingots. In other words, you cannot produce ingots without first producing the ore. Taming, on the other hand, does not produce the animal, nor the hides that the animal possesses. Taming merely give you a controllable creature that still must be killed, skinned, and looted in order to obtain the leather. In that vein, taming is incidental to the gathering process and is not essential to the process of obtaining leather. In fact, one might say that taming is detrimental to the process of gathering resources because it requires you to take an extra, and unnecessary step in the process of obtaining leather.

Unless you are lazy and doing something else on another account, or overnight afk like this guy was.

Again, I don't see how taming specifically facilitates the killing, skinning and looting of any of the animals. Aside from the fact that the skill is unrelated to those issues, there is no legal way to perform those actions in the first place. At least, with a macro through razor there isn't.

You guys are all arguing over the wrong things. Want a simple fix? I have the perfect solution. Make All AFK Macroing illegal if its done in a guarded zone. Then make it to where you only have 10 minutes to report being murdered.
Then sit back and let the players decide the rest...
