New to The Second Age

Post by Seiroth »

Hi everyone.

First let me say that I am loving this free shard. This is my first time playing on a free shard and picked this one because it was the changes after Pub 16 that destroyed the game I loved. I quite obviously chose the right shard. I was impressed to see almost 600 people online last night when I logged in for the first time.

I am curious if this is compatible with the kingdom reborn client. I did go back to UO when KR was released and hated all the stuff EA / Mythic did with the game but I did like the improved graphics. It would be very cool IMO to play this game just as a remembered it but with the nice cosmetic facelift KR offers.

LOL please don't hate me for liking the KR graphics. I already know most ppl hate the new look. :)

It's hard not to hate you for liking the KR graphics...
but no KR is not compatible with our shard (it isn't compatible with most free shards).

If I were you I'd actually DL the version that is recommended on the main page, when I first arrived here I had the up-to-date ML patch and even though it worked it was buggy at times and it took away some of the immersion of T2A.

Welcome and I second the recommendation for downloading and using the version on the front page.

You'll find that certain places like T-Keep will be buggy for you unless you use it.

Thanks everyone.

I did download the basic client + patch that this site recommended. So far its been working perfectly.

I can't believe I didn't get flamed for mentioned KR, not even once. Its a testament to the kind of community this shard has. Thanks everyone for welcoming me. I am so excited to find a solution to my last 8 years of jumping from MMORPG to MMORPG looking for something to make me happy like UO way back when. I feel like I've gone back in time here and I'm having so much fun.

In fact I feel like its better than UO ever was. I really like how there's actually open land still available for houses. When I used to play on the OSI Atlantic server it was just way too over-populated and adding the Fel / Tram world split never solved the problem. I feel like the smaller community is going to make this perhaps the most enjoyable MMO experience I've had to date and to believe its free! Well - sorta - I'll definitely be making donations. The ppl running this shard deserve it.

~Seiroth - back to killing rats now

And the best part about donating, is you cannot get ingame items, and all donations are used for the shard, they don't pocket it for a profit. A truly dedicated staff. best server ever.

"~Seiroth - back to killing rats now"

I'd upgrade on this idea and try some mongbats, skeletons, or something similar/low end. GP doesn't come very quick killing rats.
