Here's my thoughts on magics in tournys from the tread above....

My suggestion: Please add the following to the normal schedule:

Reagents and Player Crafted Items Only Rule Set. If a player can craft it (GM Armor, Weapons, Potions, and Poison Weapons) then it is usable along with reagents. (This also means no O/C Shields. All items must be non magic.) *This type of duel rule set would be a PURE SKILL BASED one.
It eliminates the effect of scarce magic items and is a better reflection of combat skills
I certainly would like to see this type of tourny added, especially since it was the type of rule set we'd use on Fire Isle in Chessy during 1999. I think the guild was LOR but I'm not for sure.
Maybe in other shards and even other duel tournies on Chessy a rule set similar to #1 above was used. I never saw one in era using #2.
The set I described above is what we always used on Fire Isle.
