If you see a ghost, why don't you just go somewhere else? There are plenty of spots to farm.

AI had a vairly simple resolve to this, turn off ghost vision after the bones of thier corpse decays.

You could still see NPCs. You ressed from the npc healers. I think the time when you lost sight was more like 10-15 minutes. It worked and stopped the ghost cam problem.

Not era accurate though.

people also use ghost's to farm rare locations, idocs, and people's home for a little B & N.

So even if you address one aspect of ghosting or camping, eventully you'll just have another.

griefing seems to be a big part of uo. so it will always be there with one tactic or another.

Even though not era accurate more so shard specific we can have ghosts teleport to random locations every quarter hour, maybe a forced stuck option to fill the screen?

Apok, i dont think that is refering to ghosts. "Client Ghosting" i believe is a graphical term or development issue regardling errors or problems with the executable file.

Thats why a forced stuck option ghost removal device should be implemented every 15 minutes of being dead unless the ghost is in a town or in a home owned, co-owned, or friended to.

It may not be accurate in any age but it can be a shard specific rule.

We believe that "proper" gameplay can only be achieved by taking the era as a whole and accept it for what it was. Tampering with the era in hope of achieving balance is not something that we will do.

I'm not sure why people keep claiming ghosting is not era accurate. The fact is that it was possible to own multiple accounts and computers in era and therefore perfectly possible. I know ghosting was used on the siege perilous shard by various guilds from the start and I would be extremely surprised if no one had thought of it earlier than that.

Just because a tactic wasn't widely used during T2A doesn't mean we should impose inaccurate mechanics in order to force people to act the way they did back in the day.

You can recreate the server and its mechanics but not the people from 1999. UO and MMO's have evolved since than and that can never be undone....

The point is you do not have to pay for accounts.

Which makes no difference at all.

Doesn't change the fact that implementing some random 'fix' for people using ghosts to scout locations is not era accurate. Whether people did or did not have multiple accounts in that era really isn't relevant.
