I'm wondering about Wand Damage. What formula does it use here on UOSA?
I don't recall wands being very effective during T2A and I seem to remember that they did very little damage. Do you guys recall the same?

Re: Wand Damage
Yes.
They were almost useless.

Re: Wand Damage
From my experience, wands were practically non-existent in t2a pvp. If you used a wand back then, you were more then likely doing it as a joke.
I’ve thought about this, I’m convinced the popularity of wands in modern UO is due to the simplicity of powerful third party programs such as razor. UOA's macro feature was similar to razor’s, but not nearly as functional. Other macroing programs recorded mouse movements and keystrokes, making them useless for pvp.
Otherwise, their damage and abundance seems pretty accurate.

Re: Wand Damage
On a few occasions in late t2a, my neighbor and I tried machine gunning people with fireball wands with very disappointing results. I cannot claim to have any recollection about the damage, but I suspect if you were to try it here, it would be far more effective (despite most people having far higher resist).
Who knows, though?

Re: Wand Damage
Fireball wands have always been pretty much worthless, lightning wands on the other hand were a different story. Like the previous poster stated they were pretty much non existent on OSI shards, and third party programs is the only reason that they're useful today. I wonder if the wand should take into account the users magery and eval int, like scrolls do?Fwerp wrote:On a few occasions in late t2a, my neighbor and I tried machine gunning people with fireball wands with very disappointing results. Re: Wand Damage
When you use a scroll you use Word of Power and go through the casting actions. That is not the case with wands.
I always thought, because of how poor they worked on OSI during T2A, that wands did not take into account any skill modifiers of the user, but rather just a basic formula that would be equal for all users regardless of skill. This is based on the lack of words of power and the lack of the requirement of the user to 'cast'.

Re: Wand Damage
It defenatly didnt have anything to do with your magery. that would be nothing more then a bias buff to the hally mage.
I can't say for certian if the damage is correct, but you are right in saying they were nothing but toys in T2A due to no pvp macro capability.

Re: Wand Damage
Wands work on a fixed magery level. Interesting and related; we recently discovered that Cure Potions essentially work the same way, by having an internal magery level.
Will look into whether the wands base magery level is correct, but it's believed to be.
