Any thought to implimenting a dueling area?

For ideas on how to make Second Age a better shard. Can it get any better? Maybe.

Any thought to implimenting a dueling area?

Post by Onslaught »

When I played on OSI servers it was all about Jhelom farms. If you wanted to duel, you went there and you could find just about anyone there dueling.

Might be kinda sweet to have a system or area or something like this and maybe even use the tournament-style ruleset where we wouldn't have to res and restock every 5 minutes heh.

There has been a lot of talk about putting in some sort of duel pit, but they will not be "safe" or free-use.

I've just set up a the Jhelom pit as a test area which forbids looting others corpses. This is by no means permanent, but just a test. Please provide feedback.

so as of right now..... the fighter's pit is a 'no loot' zone, but no free use. Am i correct in assuming that magic does damage?

either way, you'll find teknix chillin' from now on. i'm always up for training/sparring and i like the idea of a designated dueling area with looting capability and free use

question, will red's be able to gate in there and also spar?

The way it's set up right now, there are no items, spell, or skill restrictions. Red's are safe from guards as long as they stay in the pit. And will auto res with no stat loss on death.

Be aware, if you are red and receive a resurrect gump at any time, anywhere, you will be assessed stat loss. You should resurrect without prompting in the Jhelom pit.

Again. This is a test. It's not a permanant area. We're looking for feedback on this.

I hope in the end it goes away. Imo we should be able to find friends or whatever to duel. Then if you want pvp go order or chaos or war. Not make special rules to allow for controlled fights.... UO wasn't like that back in the day. That is how current mmos are. No risk...

Why should there be risk involved with a duel? That's kind of the point of a duel, two consenting parties who wish to fight each other. It's not like someone is getting ambushed or something.

You have it right there. If the above is true, the loser shouldn't get looted right? If you choose to duel in a shitty area, someone might get looted or ambushed. Makes sense to me.

yea but from what they're saying they want a loot-safe zone to duel at so when they die someone can't grief-loot them..
