is there any way to place an oven or flour mill on the first floor of towers?

I had this problem before, and someone said to make sure theres nothing on the tile(s) on the floor above it. Unfortunately I never got around to ever trying it out, but it's worth a shot. It should work if I recall correctly, and just leave a little hint of the chimney popping through to the next floor, but it's still walk-over-able.

I would like to know the outcome of this as well.

it didn't work, it just says you cannot place that there

This doesn't work when the chimney would protrude into a "walkable" space. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but currently if you do manage to place an oven on the first floor of a tower, it blocks movement on the second floor.
