For those of you wh dont know what sticky hotbars are, let me explain. You drag a targets bar out and throw it on the side of your screen. When that target comes on screen it lights up and stays there, when he leaves screen it greys out but still stays there. Problem is, during T2a this did not happen, its a later addition to UO to make ease of gaming more enjoyable for new players. Another problem is I beleive its client side, making it hard to change.
Derrick is it possible to code in non-sticky hotbars with some range check and gump close? During t2a if you hid/left the screen the targets hotbar on your screen closed. This is one of the most skillfull abilities in UO, being able to quickly grab or target multiple peoples bars. This is t2a accurate and think it would make the shard amazing if this was put in.

Re: Sticky hotbars
This is a client side thing. I've asked before, changing it would require all players to use an older client.
I'd love to see it fixed though, along with removing guild/party chat. So many minor things really have a major effect on gameplay

Re: Sticky hotbars
RoadKill is correct.
This feature is a client side gump that cannot be altered through the server code. The only way this would work like RoadKill stated would be forcing an older client to be used. However, this fixes and creates problems in itself. For example, let's say that if it was possible to force your client back a decade. A lot of the programs that could hack the client would be usable. There was a morph program that could allow you to morph yourself into anything you selected like a house sign and you could transfer the house to another individual. This was a hack after UOR even.
I am pretty sure that RunUO doesn't support older clients as this very moment yet.
It would be neat to be able to use UOE again though.

Re: Sticky hotbars
T2A game mechanic wise, this needs to be done. Im sure our amazing GM can find a way to code it.
Re: Sticky hotbars
I think it would be better for them to knock out 100 minor fixes than something as large as this. You would need a modified client. You would then have to force every player on the server to use this modified client. This is how you lose players/slow your gain of players. When I use to Shard hop for fun (when I had no "real shard" to play on), the first shard I would drop off my list was anything that required me to use more than Razor+UO to connect and/or play.Vlastslav wrote:T2A game mechanic wise, this needs to be done. I'm a computer "nerd" and could figure out what it is I need to do to connect, but the fact that I need to use anything extra to connect to the shard is a turn-off in itself. Just imagine what the not-so-computer savy people would ask, we have people who have enough problems connecting to UOSA as it is. You're just throwing another lock on their door.

Re: Sticky hotbars
simple solution; don't allow people to stay with a client over 5.01 (i think it is)
