Decided to give this server a go and I'll bringing about 6 friends if everything goes over smoothly!

Some questions I had though to tie the knot so to speak onto the joining the server.

There are tons of housing still, I heard, but how hard is it to get money and GM skills etc? I say that not because I want it to be easy, but the opposite..nothing more old school than spending forever to raise skills. =p What I heard was that the fighting skills go up relatively fast but the tradeskills are a pain in the effin ass. Which is good. ..but could I get a for sure answer?

Secondly..are there black dye tubs? I know its not important but...eventually it would be nice to have them..even if they were rare. just because. Lol.

There will be no donation for glowing dragons or stupid crap like that will there? that always makes a server unbalanced and extremely unfun in the end.

How stable is the server? There are no plans to take it down anytime or anything like that, right? Just want to make sure of that also...we all know player servers like to take dives rather swiftly from time to time.

Is there ANY way to run this server on KR? I know most people hate the graphics, and I know IRIS works...but KR has some cool stuff to me and the only server utilizing it is some non english server.

I figured since this server was T2A strict there would be no crazy custom tiles, which is what KR can't handle..so maybe it could work?

Will there be neon hair dyes etc ? Like the ones that are REALLY hard to get? I remember playing UO and them being tons of money or something like that. Basically..I liked UO when if you were GM smith, you were a bad ass. If you had neon hair..you were a bad ass. Not when everyone had a house, 4 neon hair dyes..4 neon horses, and 4 7x GMs within a month, you know? You had to work for it, and when you got it, you were rewarded. By Badassedry. lol.

Sorry for all the questions..you guys probably hate me already haha..but I like old school UO and I just want to see how close to the bone you guys really are, I guess.

Money is fairly easy to obtain. A lot of people make bards and use provoke. Although some of us use our mages and just BS/EV monsters. You don't have to be a tamer or bard to make money, which is great imo. The tradeskills and resist are a pain but it makes your character worth it.

No tubs. However you can turn in trophies from events for points. Points can buy you items. One of the items is a bolt of black dyed cloth I believe.

Correct. The admins here seem to have a level head and don't need to tweak out their characters or friends to compensate for their small (*&$@ like other shards do.

Very stable. Server goes down everyday around 7 am est for about 10 minutes and then back up. I don't think it has crashed here yet. I don't see them taking it down anytime soon with the playerbase reaching 135 recently.

Yes but neon hair is very costly. You need 100 points from events for a neon dye. A trophy can be worth 1 or 2 points, so you will need a lot of trophies. People sell their trophies (points) about 3k a piece. So 1 neon dye would be about 300k, but you have to find someone to sell you trophies or you better start winning some events!

This is by far the closest in era to T2A I have seen and I have been playing free shards for years.

It sounds like a really cool server. I love the PK aspect but it seems like servers usually end up getting a whole lot of silly people who just PK and then there's never anyone to PK you know? it becomes like the new "trend". It sucks.

If a dev could lemme know about KR compatibility and when/if it will be available, that'd be awesome.

Also if you could let me know how much the server COULD hold, just so I get an idea of how big the server could possibly get?

As long as everyones not running around overpowered looking like a christmas tree with 7x after a week, then I'll be stoked on the server. Im jus sick of people running servers to decorate their players with a bunch of ridiculous looking shit.

Bolt of Black cloth is actually a cool idea, will really make you stand out more when you get around to it, so thats cool to me. Until someone kills your ass. But still. Lol.

Yes there are tubs. To clarify about black tubs. It's 150 points for 1 black dye charge. So it is even more rare than I thought.

That's why statloss here is great. If you choose to be red, you better be good or say bye bye to your character if he dies! We have only a few active PKs here so far.

Hello and Welcome to Second Age,

About the KR questions, it would be very difficult to make it compatible on this server since we run on runuo emulator and they have announced that they will not be upgrading to KR. This means that Derrick would have to make the changes himself which i think would be quite difficult and time consuming but he has said that he might look into it at some point.

About the server capacity and stability, like ironfist said, this server is very stable and i have yet to see it crash. Derrick makes sure to upgrade the hardware whenever our player base gets even a little close to the max.

I think all your other questions were answered.

Welcome to the shard. Been playing here for awhile and skills are certainly hard and worthwhile to raise here as opposed to other shards where you are 7x in a day. The staff and player base is top notch and I can see this shard only getting bigger.

My teacher at the private school I was going to had a house at the lower eastern part of brit, IN TOWN, and was a GM smith. haha. he was a bad ass. Back when GM smith was bad ass. Lol.

The problem with KR compatibility is a whole new packet protocol. It's possible to do and I've intended to. There's been more calls for this lately so it may very well just bumped up on my list.

Our policy is to accept donations only. We feel that donation in which you get something in return is more like a purchase and we are very opposed to this.

The shard is hosted in a major datacenter in Texas and we have an offsite backup server ready to go should something happen. We haven't had a prime time crash in many months, although we did experience a couple server up crashes this week due to some patch bugs, we are Very stable. Backups are two hours offsite ftp'd so our worst case scenario in the event of a major hardware problem is a two hour revert, this has never happened.

We should be able to support over 1000 players with our current hardware configuration, if we ever approach that playerbase we'll certainly upgrade.

I played Chessie from '98 to 2000. Great to have you here.
