House hoarding and abuse of multiple accounts.

With the current house decay rate and average server population, there are way too many houses already. Obviously peope are creating multiple accounts to hold houses.

Run an ip check. Any addresses with too many accounts should be notified and asked to pick 3 (is 3 the number here?) accounts to keep. On top of that, cross check for accounts being accessed from multiple ips, or accounts created at one ip and played exclusively at another ip. I have three Internet lines at my house. It would be easy to make like ten accounts and hoard house spots / farm newb items like regs. Newbied regs kick ass lol.

I've already posted too much here today, so I'll keep it concise. You know who you are. Dude who doesn't play any more but logs on to refresh his house. Sell it, it's a waste of space and must be annoying for you to have to log in and refresh it. Or, the dude who sorta likes pvp so he places a house at every single pvp hotspot. Destard, bucs, Brit gy, etc. Fuck off. Stop running to your house and fight like a man. At the very least, start a guild and let your guildmates have some houses. At least they might actually use it as more than a portable safe zone.

And the worst. Wannabe banksitter who can't save for long enough to buy a keep/castle so instead places as many large brick houses as he can, then brags to his friends about how many houses he has. If you can't afford to fill those houses with rares, then you don't need to own them.

Honestly this is the most pointless rule here.

Who cares? there are only like 185 - 200 people playing here (going by IPs at peak) so why the heck does it matter if some dude has 20 houses? If he wants to go around refreshing shit all the time let him. IMO those houses are simply wasted money.

But yes, nonenforcement is really the root of most of my dislikes about this shard.

I think this is less a point about hording houses and more a point of breaking the rules, why are some players allowed "exceptions" for some illigal things while other illigal things are left with harsh punishments, its a 3 account limit and that should be enforced, otherwise your EXPLOITING the shard, just like speedhacking, using EUO, Unattended Macro mining, amung other things.

I think Derrick needs to hire a "heavy" some one who will lay down the ban hammers after the first warning, because as much as I think derrick is doing a great job with this shard, he is a nice guy, and I can understand being one myself its easy to forgive and give out 2nd, 3rd,4th etc warnings & chances.

Multiply that by 400 unique IPs and you have 6000 houses, big and small, placed around the world.

I doubt we have that many. I am pretty sure we have more unique IPs than 400. I'm also fairly certain the OP just wants to place some house, but can't because all the good spots are taken.

Pretty sure? I'm pretty sure that's the dumbest thing I've read in this thread. I'm new to the shard. I'm only 2x gm and I've saved up 100k so far, and probably spent another 100 training skills. No one helped me at all. I'm saving for a keep or castle, because honestly I don't need a house, they're just cool to have.

The reason I made this thread is that 90% of houses I've seen are completely empty. That's no good man. No good at all. They don't even have icq numbers on the signs in case someone wants to buy.

More than three accounts is a big no no. I'll stand behind that.

However you can buy just about any placed home off someone if your offer is right. Even the "good" spots near towns, banks, moongates, and interesting locations can be bought for around double value. I'll bet you can buy almost any house on Verity Isle (moonglow) for 100k or less if you just contact the owner. Moongate homes are more expensive but the same principles apply. Make a decent offer and you can own one. The housing situation on OSI was so much worse simple because of the difference in player numbers. You still could find plots for small homes and small towers though. I even found a villa plot on Sonoma in 2001. but what did a Britannia with little to no plots left do? Rise the prices. People were paying millions of gold for a tower in the middle of no where. Thousands in real life cash for a castle. Even the tiny small wood and plaster house a screen away from Brit gate was valued 2-4 million. I guess what I'm saying is be grateful that situation isn't going to happen anytime soon. Buy up what you want because prices are very low. Most players with a good house spot are willing to part with it. Everyone has a price.

ps: oh, just don't try to buy the Skara Moongate house. I hear Bisco still wants 10 mil for it

DrFaustus, I am calling you out, on this forums its you and maybe 2 - 3 other people who complete rip these threads apart, you add zero value to the conversation rather then blatantly avoiding actually discussion and reasonable responses and detail or make irrelevant comments, How does the length of time the OP has spent on second age have any relevance towards this topic? it seems to me that he has been here long enough to notice what must only be fairly obvious disrespect for the rules in terms of

A. Account limits being abused for housing reasons and
B. Unattended Resource gathering being an issue

Two topics which have been discussed a great deal over the course of this shards history (and is still an issue)

so maybe instead of being a complete troll, why dont you contribute with valid reasoning & good counter topics rather then repeating the same things over and over, "quit wining you just want to get good houses" or what ever the topic is about.

sorry to rant off there but I feel that because of the hand of a few prevalent forum posters important issues like these are overlooked.
