I like the no mobs idea...but I'm afraid while it might be more suitable for the pure fielders and pvp fanatics (and sneaky sneaks), other maybe newer players would be left in the dust with not much to do except accidently attack a red who has 10 blue friends right there to gank them into oblivion.
Maybe one part of a city can be over ran by monsters and be more attractive to pvm types whilst a red vs blue type of battle happens in another part of the city? Kind of like a two front siege on the city. Maybe if the reds are outnumbered spawn some brigands and other red npcs to help attack blue players. Maybe to complete the siege, the reds gotta kill a blue npc in the heart of the city. Just throwing out some ideas to have the encounters fresh and fun for all playstyles.

What's being discussed now is far from the original idea for fightnight, not to say I don't like it.
Back on DFI the fightnights were all about getting old pvpers and guilds to log on for huge fieldfights.
But reading these suggestions I might sit down and actually write up a cool event like that.

why make it difficult how about swallowing your pride and bring back the original events, its not rocket science its just common sense.Lord Mammoth wrote:So when is the next UOSA Fight Night and what city? Is there anything we can do to improve it? More mobs, less mobs, no mobs next time? Anything else that would make it more enjoyable?

You speak of my pride like you know me. If you did know me you would know that I am in favor of some sort of automated events. However, all decisions are not made solely based on my opinion. I have worked tirelessly, alone, with other GMs, and with other players, to add content in place of automated events, usually with very little gratitude. That being said lets keep this topic on topic. Anymore discussion of automated events in this topic will be removed as there are other topics where your comments would be welcome.TheRealDeal wrote:why make it difficult how about swallowing your pride and bring back the original events, its not rocket science its just common sense.Lord Mammoth wrote:So when is the next UOSA Fight Night and what city? Populus,
I like the idea of keeping the Fight Night about PVP. As far as a blue'a vs red's type event where a town is partially taken over by reds I could code a spawner to spawn red npcs and after a number of the red npcs are killed it would spawn blue instead. This would affectively signal that blues own that area now. If enough blue npcs are killed it would switch back to spawning red npcs. This could be done for the "blues area" aswell, just in reverse. Not sure if that would be fun or not. The NPCs would attack the other side in defense of their area.

Really bummed I had to miss this event.
Mammoth's idea sounds great! There are lots of variations that could be dreamed up.
You could have an NPC (Lord British!?) in town that the blues had to defend. Or better yet escort to another town.
Or some item that had to be recovered CTF style by the reds or blues.

CTF style would be hard to accomplish without some sort of automation. However, a boss for each side with a significant amount of HP that when killed signals that sides defeat is easily accomplished.Ali wrote:Really bummed I had to miss this event.

Mammoth the idea of Npc spawning does sound like a cool idea. The other day at the begining of the fight night it was pretty lame until the red group came in. Hats off the reds that made it happen. My idea was since everything is kind of trophy driven is to make it so the blue shop owners would spawn with a certain item. Make it so this item cant be banked or transfered and must stay in your main bag. If killed by pvp then all these items are lootable. Once you reach a certain amount then there is a turn for a trophy. Therefore people would be flagging by killing the shop owners. Looting the NPC blue body would flag you as well, so there will be alot grays running around instead of blues waiting to gank the few reds that showed up.
So objective would be to kill blue NPC and not dying or pvp all these ruthless people killing the town owners.

maybe get some sort of tournament going to kick off the next "fight night" hosted by the gms?
if successful the gms can practically make a macro and host future "fight night" tournaments on a regular basis?
^also posting results/screen shots of the "fightnights" on the main page.

Turning off murdercounts would impact gameplay too much, at least in my opinion. For some pure pvp mayhem we could simply host it in Bucs. But that's been done a thousand times so it's not very exciting.Ill Gates wrote:Lose guards as well as murders in town.

This sounds awesome. The wife is having family in from California, so I shall be there only in spirit.
Happy wife, happy life boys. Learn it, and live it.
