Death of N-C-

Post by Lambo »

Dear UOSA,

I feel as though there is a situation I need to address. I believe it is now apparent to everyone N-C has been terminated. I was not going to post anything regarding the matter mainly because I do not enjoy personal attention but due to the influx of PMs, Questions, and rumors I have received I will touch base on the reasoning why N-C was dissipated.

I will not be posting the letter I wrote to my guildmates but I would not be difficult to find if need be.

You may find some of the terminology following to be a bit too much considering it is JUST a game. But I am not ashamed to say N-C was a big part of my life and something I was proud of helping build.

I will not go into a detailed history of N-C as that is not what this thread is about. I will however address my feelings regarding N-C and my reasoning as to why it was terminated completely. I understand N-C is a very very small part of history in UOSA but I think it would be a lie to say we were not one of the longest standing consistently competitive pvp guilds ever.

As I am not afraid to say N-C was very important part of my life. The friendships I made in N-C are often stronger than the friendships I have in RL. I lost many hours of sleep because of N-C and at times poured more effort into N-C than I did my RL duties. I wanted to create a place for friends to gather and enjoy competitive UO pvp. I believe we did that together. Call it silly but I poured a lot of my heart and soul into N-C and it really drove me to be better. My wife even knows many guildmembers by name and even listened to me babble on about our successes and failures. There were times N-C was my only safe place or only place of enjoyment in a world riddled with RL issues and problems. Part of my reasoning for disbanding N-C were selfish and part were what I thought would be better for the server as a whole.

Why ?

The decision was not a knee jerk decision. It was something I had been pondering for quite some time. It was extremely hard and emotional one at that. N-C recently grew very rapidly, I was no longer enjoying running the guild. I often would not log in due to the headache of extra duties it entailed. The 3-4 hours I get a night to enjoy myself was no longer fun, it was now a second job. Every time I would cast In Por Ylem to break reflect and go into battle I'd have to ask myself 50 moral questions. Is this an Ally? Is this someones friend? Am I going to get hate PMs? This was due to the increase of size and alliances I allowed to happen. I grew bored of playing in N-C and felt at times we immensely outnumbered everyone else hindering a healthy pvp environment. I was no longer allowed to enjoy my personal play style but it had been morphed into something else. I felt as though many of my guild mates were in the same boat but due to a loyalty towards myself or another member did not want to leave the guild. I made this decision for them.

The guild meant a lot to some of you and myself I greatly apologize I had to do this.

Even though we all want to hate each other in game and trash talk, I believe all pvpers on this server are working towards one common goal. Which is to create constant action. We cannot do it without each other. Any of my actions towards anyone which may seem "malicious" at the time were always done to fuel the fire. I hope that anyone who knows me well enough will believe I never did anything or said anything "just because" or to be an asshole. I respect everyone on this server in some aspect because you provide me with a great joy in my life and something at times I need. We all have to have each other to make that happen.

I have isolated and disconnected myself from the community as much as possible. Not because I don't urn for it to succeed only because making a ton of friends did not help my preferred playstyle. I don't want this thread to be a "look what I did I am great" thread because anyone who knows me well enough would know that is never my intention. I want to make it extremely clear UOSA is bigger than us all and we are small pieces that keep the engine running. N-C experienced a great deal of success but we would have not been successful without 1) The members 2) Our enemies

The Members -

I carried the title Guildmaster but a lot of players were essential to our success and everyone played a role in the long term stability of N-C. That I am thankful for and I appreciate all of you.

Freight Elevator - A good friend who I brought here from another server. He really pushed me to grow N-C into what it is today. He was also a great player in group pvp. Extremely good field awareness and xhealing abilities. One of the first people I really trusted and grew to share my life with through Ultima Online.

Image

Ganka/George/Para Bellum/Trainwreck- Yep ! I hated him just as much as you. Tormaboobe brought him along on a GY killing spree we were having and I was extremely pissed to the point I left WWhy? I hate that fucking guy. Ganka is now one of my closest friends and someone who I enjoy hanging out with. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him. Ganka kept N-C alive through some of the toughest times , maybe even more than myself. He was a huge part of N-C and a huge part of what made me enjoy logging on each night. Fearless and you may hate him but he wants nothing more than UOSA pvp to thrive (well he may want to kill your mount more)

Image

Pixelclicker- Someone I met hours after logging in UOSA. He is a great friend and someone who I discuss all aspects of life with. Often referrred to as "mother hen" he has helped us not make brash decisions based on revenge that would ultimately get us killed. A great person and supporter of UOSA. Cannot say enough about how much I appreciate his friendship.

Image

Matt/Abyz- Huge supporter of UOSA always training noobs and generally wants more than anything for this server to be a success. Matt was always someone I could discuss issues with. He would always bring out the other side that I may not be able to see at a time of narrow minded thinking. I don't think I need to discuss his abilities in game as his skills speak for themselves. Matt is not only a great pvper but a great person, I am happy to call him a friend. He also plays through a lot of wife aggro which is admirable!

Image

Johnny Hobo- Although he wasnt around for much of the N-C reign he was the person who actually gave me the stone when it was !?!. Fun guy to play with who is working hard to obtain some RL goals at the moment.

Image

Keeting - Someone who I have played UO with for years on various servers and even other games. Great player. Most famous for his witty spamming and harassment of FT$ during their reign. Incredibly fun guy to play with who is quick to remind me why I play this game and to not take it too seriously. Incredible person to be around , artistic thinker and great person to bounce ideas off of.

Image

To all the other N-C members throughout the years you do not know how much I appreciate your fellowship.

The Opponent-

TG-

Guild I have most likely fought the most in my time on UOSA. They always challenged me to create new strategies. I have seen these guys when they were super competitive.

Although we do not see eye to eye and we both find each others tactics "cheesy" at some points. Malice is someone who was a role model to me when I started and taught me a lot. I honor and respect his dedication to UOSA and TG. I think anyone in UOSA pvp deserves to tip their hat to this guy.

Vin, MiG, Mfred, Azheman, Tagarr , BX, Elk all a huge part of N-C entertainment\frustrations over the years.

Image

FT$ -

I still don't agree with everything that went down. But the fun I had for those two months could have been the best two months I've ever experienced in UO period. Scienter offered me with the biggest challenge I had and still have had in the years playing UOSA. The FT$ footprint on UOSA was necessary and built a lot of the years to come.

I got the chance to play with Kister, extremely top notch individual who just wants to pvp. Well put together level headed person. Even though he is considered top tier I think even that is underrated one of myself and N-C's top challenges in UOSA.

Tempest - Fight him on a well stocked dexxer and lemme know how that works out for ya.

Image

CoS- Can't say enough about these guys. If they weren't around N-C would have quit long ago. CoS was around at the dead periods and kept the scene alive. One of the only guilds I have seen work their way to the top. And who has been to the GY in the past year and a half between 11-2am without skrappa harassing you. Great group of guys.

Farnk/mym - The guy is just always down to fight or create something happening. Not afraid to fight outnumbered good player.

Sin Cloud/MW/Etc- Say what you want about this guy, he consistently produced quality group pvp guilds that were competitive. I respect that aspect of his game and N-C had a lot of fun fighting with and against him through various periods.

NWO- Mainly a PVP guild were always fun to track down. Ashame they are no longer active as they added a bit of excitement.

PEE- Wasn't really around for the N-C reign but I really respect what PEE and Hardcore are doing to help the pvp scene and make it active. Wiz Kid beginning to lead his group well.

N-F - Relatively new group. I've said it before Santorum is an extremely underrated player who is always down for a fight. Hope to see them continue in this game.

AB/Retro 80s - Solid group fun to fight
Spanky/+ - psp- Competitive as on every server
Capitalist - Irritating Ganka enough he stays on all night to try to pwn you. Had a guild during one of our dead times. Hopefully he gets the urge to play again to produce some more action. Created his own style and had success with it.
Kooter- For hosting a lot of tournamnets early in N-C's life and generally just saying strange shit to get things started.
N-S - Always fun to kill these racist and take their regular platemail armor.

I am 100% Certain I forgot a guild or group in which was extremely important.

For that I apologize.

Thank you everyone for helping make N-C what it was. It was a very important part of my life and I appreciate it more than you will ever know.

That being said. If you PvPd in the last few years...

N-C Most likely pwned the fuck out of you...

P.S The old n-c skype channel I made has been changed to UOSA PVP after I added several other players from ft$ etc. It is a great place to find action or possibly even a guild. A little less "troll" than irc. Currently has 20 players if you would like an invite add rwlambert6 on skype and ask for invite!

Lambo, I have publicly and privately admired you as a player. You were one of two people I've ever considered an all around equal. I don't say that to be inflammatory either. You guys did outgrow yourself, which is exactly what I aimed to not in PP's mission statement. Too many numbers makes the game no fun and everyone ends up each others asses.

I wish your new guild good luck. Regarding your address to me, all but one of us are putting in a few hours on our days off. Don't hesitate to Skype me for sex or field fights. I appreciate your mention that I played how I wanted and made it work, a seemingly conflicting idea for a lot of players.

R.I.P N-C. You are the only guild we would recall from if outnumbered after one failed drop. Enjoy that when you lay your UO heads to rest.

Class act and a solid pvp'er.

Also, I completely understand this rationale. Just a few nights I ended up spectating a handful of fights simply because I was friends with people on both sides and didn't want to skew the numbers in favor of any one group.
Save yourself the shame and embarrassment and just assume that if you can't understand me...you're the one who's retarded.

Good post Lambo, I hope you find a way to ease back into the community in a way you see fit.

It's hard to run a guild, and the larger it grows the more difficult it is to manage. A successful guild master will no doubt have to deal with drama both inside and out of the guild. One thing I did to help curb the drama was enforce the "us against them" rule, this means that if you are not in the guild you are automatically labeled the enemy.

This worked great most of the time, but the inevitable out of guild alliances would pop up from time to time, and every time is created some kind of headache/drama. I cant count the times we have killed someone on some random alt, then seconds later have mega hate spam thrown at me in IRC, and of course it's always the guild masters fault lol.

The biggest mistake I made was not stepping down form the guild when it was my time to do so. Instead I let it wither and die. My UO time was running out and I failed to pass on ownership of the guild to those who were worthy. I did make an attempt two split the ownership of the guild between 3 people before I left, but that did not work at all.

Lambo, much props to you for being one the the level headed masters of this game. I believe that a potent player can have as much or even more positive impact on this shard than an active GM. Second age needs people like you Lambo! I hope that during this time of transition you evolve into something even greater than before and find a good spot for yourself here once again.

Cheers to the future of our glorious home, Secondage!

Just betray some people and anger them! Pick your 3 or 4 guys you run with and fight everyone else. Or run like TG where you HAVE to attack whoever when you're fielding, regardless of friendships.

Glad you're not quitting though (if I'm reading this post right)

Yar we got this covered.... viewtopic.php?f=145&t=46982

Two rules: Have a set number or group of "Core" members. Getting too big sucks for the shard competition and the drama of those in the guild and outside.

Everyone not with your guild tag above them is subject to a beating. Friendly alliances not included.

I always thought N-C was Ganka's guild. Now this makes me feel better. That betraying landlubber! Arrr
