benefits of GM Item Identification???

There are a few prepatched items out there that are id'd and show for everyone. I have at least one magic club like this.

Yes I have a couple pre patched items like this someplace in a container.

I just had my husband call his good friend who he played with on Atlantic and Pac, his friend said he is not 100% sure but he thinks he does recall someone with ID being able to unlock the item ID for everyone if the person had high enough skill.

Anyone else recall this?

Maybe im way off base with this, anyway I put an email in to EA to see if they will respond doubtful! lol
