I think this would be neat. I don't see how it would hurt to at least try this out. Its true that the reward should be worth more than what you are making.
The whole point here is to have some sort of crafter server events like what is done for some of the other play styles.

Someone mentioned town invasions. What if resource and equipment collection could be tied into a more long term event? Perhaps a town is invaded, and the more equipment that is donated (to whatever specification) the more guards that will spawn periodically to help fight. Perhaps the more resources, the more skilled the guards. Players could also help fight to take back towns, but the difficulty should be far above just sending in the WW pack. People that donate armor and resources should get some sort of reward currency upon doing so. Maybe then a grand prize to the biggest contributions by the time the town is taken back.

It would definitely be a challenge to implement a system where all skills could play a role in an event. However, the event that Ezp has created seems to pretty much do exactly that. There would have to be an initiative obviously. For example, a weapon crafted by a smith that is used by a person in game would give the smith "points" in the event if the weapon kills someone, etc... This would be a very tough thing to do by far though

It is still in the development stages. The event is simply based around a team one vs team two like faction system based around requiring resources, defending, attacking, and just about any in game character can participate and make some sort of contribution during it. The event is much more diverse than any of the current events in place right now.

I really don't know much about it myself besides what Ezp has told me. It sounded pretty interesting though being based around trying to have all character types to be able to contribute. I will let him know about this thread and he may be able to tell you more than what I know about it.

VIRTUE WARS

This event will have two teams, Order and Chaos. Both sides have unique
stongholds with 4 Virtue Stones they must protect or achieve to win.
You don't have to be in an Order/Chaos guild to compete. Although if you are
in Chaos or Orderit will place you automatically in your representing
faction. i.e if you are Order you will be placed on the Order team and vice
versa for Chaos.
WARNING: This event is a "loot all" and be advised not to carry valuables
unless you want to lose them. At the start of the event you will arrive in
a the pre-event banking room for 2 minutes and u can bank your items. These items
"WILL NOT BE REPLACED" if you don't bank them.
||||" VENDORS & CURRENCY "||||
Virtue Wars will consist of special vendors that fuction soley for it. They
will only be accessible by your team and not by the oppsosing faction.
They will not accept gold as payment and will only accept silver coins.
You can achieve silver by various means such as killing an opposing faction
member "must get the killing blow".
There are 5 different vendors " Magic, bowcraft, tinker, blacksmith and
tailor. All at which will sell their appropiate goods at a cost. These
vendors can be killed by opposing faction members & will be very devestating
due to players not be able to buy their equipment.
Magic vendors sell - magical wares such as regs & potions
Bowcraft vendors sell - bows and ammo
Tinker vendors sell - faction traps
Tailor vendors sell - cloth
Blacksmith vendors sell - weapons & armor
These vendors respawn rate is attached to the virtue stones. If you lose 1 of
the 4 stones for example it will take longer for them to respawn.

There are four different trap types
Spike Trap " 15-30 damage " Cost: 100 Silver

Once an enemy of the opposing faction obtains a Virtue Stone it must be
brought back to their stronghold and placed on the proper pedestal.
The Virtue Stone must be placed on a pedestal within 15 minutes or it returns
back to its home.
Once placed on the pedestal it will take 10 minutes for the stone to become
corrupt. Once the stone is corrupted the opposing faction will lose a guard.
Once all 4 stones are corrupted the event will be over and the team with all
4 corrupted stones will be victoious.

Players can also contribute to adding resources. Miners, lubmberjacks,
and even fishermen adds resources to your stockpile. To turn your raw
materials into resources you must gather them normally and take them
to any of the faction vendors and sell them to the vendors.
1 ore = 1 resource
1 log = 1 resource
1 fish = 1 resource
Every time a vendor respawns it will do a resource check to see how much
equipement it will sell. It takes 100 resources for a vendor to restock.

Death will act as it does normally, and same as ressurection. Each teams
stronghold will have a healer that only heals its faction. ie. the Order
healer will only ress Order players and the Chaos healer will only ress

First off, Ezp's idea is epic win. I just imagined it being played it in the lost lands.

One way to get the non pvpers involved with events is to create a plot/storyline for the land. Make Britannia a three-dimensional world.
Just my two cents.

...one HUGE issue with MMORPGs in general is that feeling of a static world. Your character changes, yes, but there often isn't a plotline or story to keep things interesting, unless you have a good player community (as we do here.) What would make events more fun is if they were all somehow tied together. I've DMed for at least four years (which is quite long when you are only nineteen) now, and I can honestly say that having a huge, overarching plot nearly independent of the players coexist with the smaller plots influenced both by the players and the giant plot, makes it a richer experience for all involved. One way to get the non pvpers involved with events is to create a plot/storyline for the land. Make Britannia a three-dimensional world.

if you want a crafter event why not have a iron smith show down .. see who can craft a gm suit of armor the fastest.. the luck of the fail!
it would be like a japanese tv show watching guys get dressed with the stuff they are making in like 5 rooms the same size and with same resources.

I dont see anything wrong with crafting events. There are pvp events for the pvpers, and pvm events (Though not enough imo) for pvm'ers, so why not give the crafters somthing?

I think that appealing to the crafter community promotes longevity as well.
