Buying reagents in Moonglow??

Post by Guardian Witek »

Hello everyone, decided after playing tons of theme park MMOs and being bored to death, I'd come back to my roots! :) Used to play back in the day on Chessy, and I've just started a new account on UOSA..but I'm at a bit of a loss with reagents .I'm seeing people come in Moonglow and literally buy up the entire stock in seconds..seems like they always know when stuff is being restocked. This is pretty annoying for a newbie..anyone have any suggestions on how/when to buy regs without dealing with these farmers?

Welcome to UOSA!

There is a small shop south east of Yew Bank called A&D something vendor shop. They sell for just a bit
over npc costs. Thats the only way to bypass the reg farmers.

Also read the guides for new players, do a search for the player [Pirul] in the forums. He has a great guide
for beginning players. When are ready to play out of a small, let me know and I will co-own you to
one I dont use for free till you get on your feet. It would be a good spot for macroing a lot of skills.

Also train the ID skill, its easy and will help you when buying from player vendors and not getting ripped off.

Of course you can always shop my place [see sig], we offer a wide selection of goods at a fair price.

Good luck here!
Cheers

Thanks for the advice Orion. I've read a lot of the guides so far..working on a Bard..maxed out my stats and almost GM'd Musicianship / Provoke. I'll check out the vendor you mentioned and perhaps take you up on the offer for the house once I get a bit more established..I appreciate it. This Razor thing is a bit new to me (guessing that's how they are buying so quickly), don't remember it from back in the day, (just used UOAssist for most things).

Yeah they have these razor bots that can gather/buy the regs from the shops AFK.

I don't know why it's legal. GM Smokey and GM Roscoe will bust you in a New York Minute for unattendantly fishing up MiBs, a resource that spawns once an hour at best and is only worth 2.5k. While unattended bots are granted free reign to gatherbuy tens of thousands of gold worth of regs every few minutes -with an official UOSA stamp of approval.

And it really makes things tough on newbies who can't afford to buy in bulk from these guys.

So yeah, these reg vendors have you by the shorthairs. That's one of the main reasons I play a dexxer. I've got a house full of regs from treasure chests that I barely even touch except to make a recall scrolls or whatever. Buy my potion kegs from vendors. Who needs all that running around shopping from NPCs and competing against razor bots? Nothing but a headache.

If you want to try though, start a scribe at 50 inscription/50 magery to make recall scrolls. Then buy a rune book and a couple dozen mark scrolls and runes. Go to a rune library and find their mageshop book, travel to each location and mark a rune there until the book is replicated. Join the mage's guild to get the price down, and set up your razor buy agent for the regs you want. Then it's just matter of recalling around to all and getting the timing down for the respawn of regs on the NPCs. After a day or so you'll be rolling in regs, cuz the bots are at some disadvantage over manual users. Also if you see a bot pop in you can plant a tamed animal there or a char from another account to block his recall spot. Good luck.

I was told that the reason that afk reg buying was allowed was because during off-peak hours, the vendors get overstocked and eventually reset to have only 20 of each reg..so in a way this helps to allow more regs to be available for more people..but it is still annoying to have an entire stock bought out from under you when you are doing your purchasing without any knowledge of what Razor is or how it works. I figured out how to set up my buy agent, so I can compete.

Hang out in Delucia or Papua in the Lost Lands - RegBots don't venture into T2A too often, plus the NPC Mage vendors are next to the bank in Delucia!

Let me know if you need any help/starting stuff/runes/gold farming spots/ etc. Tamers name is Baby Jana, and my ex-bard turned wanna be PvP Tank - Abraham Lincoln,
