IRC Spam WTF.

Post by Roser »

So I've been getting these spam messages in the form of IRC PM's... When I idle in IRC I get about 10 of these every day.

Woke up this morning and had 4 already...

Is this happening to everyone else as well? It is super annoying and if it doesn't stop I wont be idling in IRC anymore, which sucks because I like to be available to receive messages and get back to people later.

I've never clicked on one of these, and never will. It would be a shame if it was a link to download a key logger or something.

Oh I just noticed the IRC channel is being moved over to irc.freenode.net

Did the spammers move over as well?

I idled in a small channel of like 2 people on WildIRC and we would get join/parts from spammers all the time, but for some reason I never got a PM, always my friend. But I think it was just a spammer on the other server, probably because it was a smaller server. Have yet to see this on freenode.
