How to Interact with NPCs

I am very new to this, but I have played UO before. Are there menus on this? I don't seem to be able to interact with the NPCs apart from verbal commands, which seems... okay. How can I tell "quest-givers" apart, or what-not. Any tips?

Quest givers will generally mention something to you first, as you approach them. You may need to continue 'conversation' a bit using keywords from their text.
