Vendor Scam
I was out trying to purchase my first spellbook and finally found a vendor selling them. However, the spellbooks are completely blank. I just want to give others a heads up on this scammer. Can anything be done or no? I'm betting a lot of new players don't even see this forum and are getting scammed there.

Re: Vendor Scam
man this sucks, when I read the post title I assumed there was going to be gold on my bogus vendor for a blank spell book. Sadly this is not the case.
Allowing the number of spells to be shown on the spell book when single clicked would fix this. But if you're not going to have that, then I'm sure myself and this guy are not going to be the only ones selling blank books.

Re: Vendor Scam
It very unfortunate that people do this, as it really only targets new players.
You can use the Item ID skill to see how many spells are in a spellbook.

Re: Vendor Scam
use the skill "item identification" on the spellbook, it will tell you how many spells are in it

Re: Vendor Scam
Bring back perma ID. problem solved.
Re: Vendor Scam
Perma ID isn't era accurate. In all honesty even item id didn't tell you how many spells were in the book. The only way you could tell was the value that item id gave for the book, which was roughly in the 5kish range. The amount of a full spellbook was a specific static value.
Re: Vendor Scam
So its not accurate that my item id tells me 64 spells?
Re: Vendor Scam
Nope, if that is what happens it's definitely not. Using theitem identification skill would give you an in game value for an item. If you did this on a full spellbook the value that it would give you was a specific value in the 5000 range. I'm assuming possibly it was the value of the book itself and the scrolls inside of it possilby. I can't be certain on that though. However, the only way you could tell if the book was full back than was going by that specific static value that item identification would give for it's estimated value.
Re: Vendor Scam
Well when I id the books that i make with gm ID it shows me how many spells are in the book.
Maybe the skill needs to be nerfed?
