For the 4th time, is the fetch command ever going to be implemented? It's T2A accurate, but my requests for it have been ignored for 6+ months.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Fetch commands
While this is an old thread, this is a subject that I haven't written a lot on, so I'll spend some time to explain what is going on.
The long story short about this issue is that the fetch command was disabled sometime in February or March of 1999 due to a house break-in exploit with Nightmares. This fix is not actually recorded on the patch notes; however there is very clear evidence from newsgroup posts which explain and roughly date the change.
To start, a newsgroup post from February 1999 details the fact that using the Nightmare, a player could issue the fetch command and have the nightmare acquire these items from inside player houses:

A following newsgroup post in March warns of the same bug, but a player responds with the following post, suggesting that the fetch command was disabled:>According to a popular Bug site there may be a new house loot exploit out.

The details of this involve use of the Nightmare critter from T2A.
Players don't actually enter the house, but for unknown reasons a
Nightmare can get inside using the right method. They can be commanded
to fetch items which are visible to the player through use of a third
party program.
What I'm not clear on is if the Nightmare will fetch locked down items
or only ones lying loose.
Easy solution for this one is to disable the ability to tame
Nightmares until they work out the kinks with this creature.
Following this, a March 28, 1999 patch note removes the flying ability from Nightmares, which is the mechanic that allowed them to enter houses to carry out their fetch command:UMMM
This was fixed was it not when they removed the fetch command from the
commands menu
Lone Wolf - DF
Following this fix, it would be expected that the fetch command was re-enabled, however this is not the case. Two different posts from April 1999 confirm that the fetch command does not work:Flying for nightmares has been removed to prevent a house break-in exploit.
fetch commands were used for a lot of house break ins, so they are currently
not working, Did not really have much of a purpose besides house break ins
anyway.

Later, the fetch command is implied to be inactive in November 1999 by the following post:Allow pets to fetch & drop again (except nightmares).
The next month, another post points out that fetch no longer works:It is my impression that this feature has been broken for months, maybe for
close to a year.
IIRC, problem was some people were using summoned daemons to 'fetch' things
inside of locked houses and break in. OSI disabled the feature. Funny thing
is I just don't understand why they disabled the drop command vs the get.
Makes absolutely no sense to me since it was everything *BUT* the drop
command that let them break in. The drop only works for tamable monsters
like drakes that carry loot, but the get command has an auto drop associated
with it as soon as the pet reaches you.

Stabling has always allowed for extra semi secure storage. Buy a pack horse
for ~700 gold, load them up with 400 stones worth of loot and stable them.
Of course you would lose this if someone killed the stable master or left
the pack horse there for a week. As far as I know, they still haven't
changed this, but I have to double check.
Finally, two posts from January and March 2001, respectively, confirm that well into UOR, the commands still do not work:I haven't heard what Austin did, but there is the old one where if the
barrier isn't even that you can summon a horse to get by - but that
doesn't work anymore now that horses come to you instead of you going
to them.
Alternatively, sometimes a summoned daemon would flap over a table all
on his own ... and then you could have him fetch stuff. But they
disabled the fetch command long ago.
Sure seems like OSI has taken a lot of steps to make houses with
barriers secure.
I'm pretty sure it has been removed at one time or another. One time or
another being when it was used as part of a house break in exploit.
I have caught people "in the act" using it on my houses in the past.
I'm a tamer and have a couple of good mages that could use this command, but
I don't want to see it back in the game just yet. I'd have to think about it
first to decide if it was exploitable under the new lockdown rules.
Ditto for stealing things off of boats. I don't know that it could still be
used to loot things off a boat deck, but it used to work and was reported by
me and others on TC as an exploit.
From this information, it's clear that the fetch command did work until early T2A, and when a severe house exploit was found, the command was removed until a more thorough fix could be rolled out. Unfortunately, the command was never re-implemented after the fix was pushed through, even many years after the fact. I hope that this clears up any confusion on what will or won't be implemented on UOSA.the fetch command was dropped due to people using it for house break-ins.
the drop command was left in to get your loot from your tames and to get the
loot that your white wyrm carefully acquired from it fresh kill

Re: Fetch commands
During early T2A they could fly, and any rider would be able to fly while riding on them. OSI had some rather large dreams regarding the T2A expansion.
