New Player coming to UO Second Age
New Player coming to UO Second Age
Hello all,
I recently discovered this shard and I have created an account and character. I was just wondering how to really go about and get started. I followed a template to create a Mage/Tamer mainly to learn to get around again. Used to be a UO veteran years ago, just after all these simplified MMO's that are out there I have forgotten a lot about this game.
Just wondering if there are any good tips out there. Even if there's a better build to work on for a returning player that feels like a newbie. Even looking to join a guild so I can really see how this community is.
But long story short I guess if there's any good tips one can provide to get myself readjusted to this wonderful world that would be great.

I would choose a different starting character other than Tamer or it will be a long time before you can start making cash.
Welcome to the server though, it's a great place.

Hi and welcome to UOSA!
I would start here viewforum.php?f=101
They are new player guild that will help you get on your feet.
Personally my first char would be a bard/mage. Also be aware that you can have 3 accts, which gives you 15 spots
to build any char of your UO dreams! The guides in this forum for char development are outstanding!
Good Luck!

Bard/Mage huh? What kind of benefits does that give? Don't think i've ever had a Bard/Mage even when I used to Play UO lol. But I will definately check it out however and rebuild a character based off a template. Sometimes I hate doing builds, but at least to get myself on my feet than I can fool around with my own builds.
Also one other question that i've been wondering. I read the post about using hte Enhanced Client for SA. I did that however I still see issues with that client. Nice graphics on it, just I notice opening my bags, if i'm on the typical grid view I don't see all my stuff, but when I switch to list view I see my inventory.
But my question is, the old 3D client, does SecondAge support that in anyway? I have no real issues with 2d (Just think i've been spoiled with the newer MMO's) But even the older 3d client would be fairly nice. If not no big deal, i'll either keep working with the enhanced or just go back to the classic 2d. Just wondered however.

Re: New Player coming to UO Second Age
The reason I say bard/mage is that provocation is free as well as music. When I build my bard, I started
with 49 magery/50 resist/1 herding, max str and rest to dex/int. Then went to skara stable and worked herding to
increase int/str. While doing that, I created a char on each of the other accts.
Then after you get int/str maxed, I set him/her up at Moonglow Zoo, provo something on the other side
of the gate on to yourself. Carry nothing on you as griefers will kill you at some point. It will take
a few days to gm music/provo. All the while you can be playing a dexer to gather some funds to get some regs.
Once you get music/provo gm you can hunt almost anywhere gathering gold.
Its the cheapest char to make for PVM gold hunter.

Cool Orion You are awesome.
Think i'll make that than make a dexxer. Thanks to the wonderful guides on this forum, think things will be ok. Definately love the nostalgia feeling coming back to UO.

Re: New Player coming to UO Second Age
Make sure to macro a bard on a second account (max 3 accounts per person is allowed). Even a newbie bard with 50 magery and 100 music/70 provocation is able to kill mid/high-end monsters. Takes one night to get to 70/100 if you survive all grief attempts.Sertious wrote:Think i'll make that than make a dexxer. Thanks to the wonderful guides on this forum, think things will be ok. Start with 50 magery, 50 resist or med. Make another scrap char with 1 or more music to get a newbied instrument. Use the last macro in the provo wiki page (http://wiki.uosecondage.com/Provocation). Go to a low traffic town and macro in the stables or go to the moonglow zoo and join the 2-10 other macroing bards. Moonglow zoo is frequently trafficked by griefers though...
Edit: Oh well, realized that i basically echoed what Orion said. Anyways, bards are money machines and very fast/cheap to train.
