This was a fun trick, you could go into your uoconfig.ini (or uo.ini, I forget) and change it so their name would stay on the screen longer. You'd hit all names, run out of town, attack their name, and come back. That was also when each swing wouldn't create an aggressive action, the initial attack was the only thing considered to be an aggressive action. Not sure if this was pre-t2a or t2a.kill drizitz wrote:i only remember being able to kill npc's on my dexxer in guards going out of thier screen, and attacking only the name when theyre not in your screen. they would auto defend but since your not in the screen they would rarely call guards, just come and get killed.

Casting field spells in town was allowed during pre-t2a when you could summon in town for magery gains.

Jadow Valroth wrote:Well, I know Magery did damage in towns at some point because one of the only ways to get True black sandles for awhile was to kill NPC Tailors who wore them by casting exp on them and then recalling out before it hit.
you got black sandals from npcs in bucs den not in town.

Re: Town fighting... no magery damage?
i remember fighting as a towny a lot and mages would bring deamons into town as well because they couldnt do anyhting but melle hit and poison in town
also: the term 'towny' came to be because there was no magery damage in town. dexxers didnt need magic resist in town so they wouldnt leave town cause they would get worked by a mage.

hey guys thanks for explaining repeatedly what townie means and where the term came from. A lot of people were unsure where the term came from or didnt know that magery didnt do damage in town for a large portion of the t2a period.
thanks again.
