When did bank checks come into being?

For ideas on how to make Second Age a better shard. Can it get any better? Maybe.

When did bank checks come into being?

Post by Skrypt »

Im just curious, seems odd the "solution" to not having checks is by trading house deeds which basically render them the same thing with the exception that you can only write checks for 44k, 144k, 192k, 600k, and 1mil

It was proven long ago that checks were added after the target window of T2A that UOSA emulates. I can't remember if it was actually during UO:R or just too late in the T2A timeframe to make it here though, not that it matters.

I agree, it's largely silly to remove them since house deeds are used as trade, but that's how things were done in T2A, and it also means that player-vendors get cashed out in coins, leaving more opportunities for risk. In fact, the whole thing basically invites much more risk than with-check uo.

Bank checks were added with the Marc 9, 2000 patch. The second to last patch from the T2A era (fun fact: checks were originally uncolored, and were silently changed to produce gold color checks a few months after implementation).
