I've been here about a year and half, had a tamer about a year. I've tamed probably 30 mares.
You're doing it wrong.
In all honesty, it's luck. The timers vary. Some weeks I would tame 3 or 4 mares, sometimes I'll go a month without taming one.

I agree the timers vary, I started marking the times I found nightmares including server up.
I would just like to say that server related spawn bugs wouldnt need to be truly replicated.... case in point would be that entire fights where fought around the buncs den server line, dancing back and forth across it to dodge spells and flags.
t2a server spawn bugs wouldnt need to be replicated due to patch dates on bug fixes because there were many bugs concerning individual server issues that are simply irrelevant to this shard because its all one big server... right? lol
Nightmare spawn being on a "timer" apparently isnt accurate at all and resources/spawns should always try to reflect server population and demand regardless.
Also, I have tamed many MANY more than just 7 mares.... i think its ridiculous to almost never even be able to currently see one in the wild and I dont understand why increasing their rates is harmful to ANYONE actually.

easiest way to fix it, at-least from my inexperienced point of view... define a new region that encompasses all of t2a, tie a variable to the nightmare spawner that will only spawn a new mare if the mare tied to it leaves the region... no need to replicate servers/server lines

Maybe.
I have been here for 8 months, and had a tamer for 4. I've never seen a wild mare before.
They do seem rare to me currently. The only people riding them seem to be well established players, who probably wouldn't sweat it if they lost the mare. Thats fine, because it reinforces the idea that these ARE rare. Even though some of you have a cache of them, the average player will never see a wild mare.
I am fine with this, but it does kind of suck having a tamer and realizing that I'm not going to be taming a mare unless I seriously try to camp the spawn all day. Makes me not want to even try.
still, I don't know if I would want the spawn increased or not! I don't want to buy a mare because I like the idea that my first mare would be tamed by me. As time goes on this seems more and more unrealistic =/ but I like the challenge.
Honestly, in a game that you can practically bot your way to the end of we might need these super rare spawn timers just to add to SOME challenge for people who have established themselves. I know that seems a bit lame, but its just one more thing that I haven't "obtained" yet that makes me feel the world is still unconquered.

I think if you're stabling 7 mares, adding to the shortage of stable space on the shard, and you neglect to refresh, you sorta deserve to lose the mares. Just saying.

What i'm trying to say, unless i'm mistaken on how they have the XMLSpawner system setup, is that all they would have to do is have mares re-spawn after a few minutes of them being tamed and change any proximity settings associated with re-spawn. If i'm understanding the implementation that we currently have, the Nightmare spawn can already be blocked by an enterprising player.
So, having the nightmares re-spawn quickly would be like it was in Era. As far as the Spawn Blocking of the Nightmares...that would be up to a devious player.

Mares are supposed to be rare.
IDOCs are rare, and Telamon was the best at them. So much so, that it seemed he got every item from every IDOC.

You're lucky to have nightmares at all. During this era, players stable blocked nightmares which prevented them from spawning at all.
