How to fix the LoS Exploit easy

I thought this issue was era accurate... why beat a dead horse? It's like all the bring back event threads.

and it was never proven to be era. they just checked the demo and how osi works atm.... and iam pretty sure this would be 110% a bann if u abused this exploit on osi.

not true, during uor we (me and at least 12 other guild mates) used this to kill people inside there houses during factions and we wernt the only ones doing it, we also used the 3pot insta kill macros.

We used UOAssist back then to do it, I'm sure others knew about it a lot sooner then us as well since uoa had been going from like 98

Our best information comes from a comparison between the demo and live OSI servers, both of which exhibit identical behavior when attempting to target these locations with respect to these foundation types. You are welcome to cross reference the results yourself. Additionally, a newsgroup post from early 1998 shows that this behavior was in place even at that point in time, allowing players to teleport into castle courtyards from outside. This requires line of sight to the location, which is possible only because of the exact behavior that some are concerned about (although, it is not possible to teleport within 5 tiles of any multiobject as per the demo scripts which post-date this newsgroup post). This gives us 3 points of data showing that this LoS behavior exists on OSI servers, and without any other clear information, we have no reason to change the behavior. Asking for patch notes does not change this fact, and it is distinctly possible that this has always been the case, which means that no patch note would even exist.

If the CY isn't compromised, you are pretty much safe unless you are in the perimeter areas.
If the CY is compromised, you might be 100% screwed no matter where you are.

I'm guessing there are safe tiles in keeps and castles. Again, compromised walls of keeps might change those safe spots.

You are also hosed in a keep regardless of keep courtyard runes.

You are wrong. Why dont you test before you speak. You are spreading misinformation and you clearly haven't confirmed anything for yourself. You are completely safe from BOTH EQ and CL in the center of a keep.

the LOS bug has its limits and it cant reach everywhere.

Personally, I never take what others say as a 100%. its just ridiculous.

INFACT the keep is the most safe of the stone structures.. By far.

Castle courtyards are many times more vulnerable then keep courtyards.... It just should be let known at this point that the keep is the safest.

Truth be told, Ill sit a main on all 3 of my accounts in the center of my keep tonight all night long holding rares and riding on pures and you can just sit outside and curse at the locked door. Thats the depth of griefing possible at that point.

CL cant reach past 9-10 tiles as i can tell. theres alot of inside left.

I've killed people center tile on a keep. It just takes a little more razor mastery.

One more thing about that 9-10 tiles..... you have to take 2 steps back to perform the bug.

You can target MS/CL up to 10 tiles away. It's "area of effect" is 2 tiles beyond that. You need to step 2 tiles back to cast. Therefore your "range" is still 10 tiles. Because you haven't done it doesn't mean it can't be done.

If you could provide evidence to the contrary of those who have posted shots of it actually working, that would help your case.

Point being, large stone structures are unsafe. It is illogical, but accurate according to all testing performed by staff.

Accuracy > Logic

Either learn to cope, or go farm RL (Lightshade)
