Stealing

I have a friended pack llama that I am stealing a 5 pound item from over and over. The problem is, I don't seem to be gaining any skill at all. I am outside of town so I don't get guard killed.

What am I doing wrong?

I was stealing items from my horse and all I saw was "You have got yourself redhanded", which is, I think, just a default message like ones You are getting when targeting Yourself with Anatomy..


What am I doing wrong?
