Dragons Polymorphing

Post by DoomCraft »

It's a minor thing, but Dragons used to be able to polymorph. In fact, they would polymorph into human form about 2% of the time. I've even seen someone with a tame dragon in human form during this era.

Don't know if it's implemented, but there you go.

I've heard this, more especially for white wyrms, and although I've looked into it in the past, I couldn't find anything concrete on it.

It actually may have been white wyrms rather than dragons. I never had a tamer in T2A, but I had seen them polymorph and attack me after doing so.

If I had screenshots from those days I would post them, but unfortunately all I have is the memory of running for my life on several occasions.

I know the current Statics description of a White Wyrm says that it can polymorph into human form, but I don't know if that correctly reflects T2A or not.

the only monster i remember polymorphing was the lich lord, and he would turn into a skeleton & summon about 3-6 skeletons to attempt to disguise himself

WW's did polymorph into humans. Never seen one naked they all looked like wandering healers when they did it. Sadly though this ability was patched out with UOR =/.

However it did cause perma Polymorphed WW's to go for insane prices lol. I did have a screenshot on my comp. Sadly it crashed all of my good screenies are gone from early UOR. I say UOR because I remember vividly taking a picture of one that had gone wild and had to many owners to retame it. It was the last one to exist on Great Lakes.

Derrick, thsi did in fact happen but was EXTREAMLY RARE the reason I say this is the entire time I played catskills (from t2a to modern age) I only saw two, and both were during t2a era. It wasnt wyrms it was Dragons that I saw. They were titled "Mystic Llama Herder" when you clicked on them. THey wre npc males. They made dragons sounds and spat fireballs and hit like dragons when they wrestled you. But like I said, extreamly rare. I was a tamer and delt with lots of dragons and only saw this twice. And you could not tame them w hen they were like this. I never saw them polymorph, so I dont know if they polymorphed or were spawned like this, I only saw them that way already when I got there. Also I believe their skin was pale white but I cannot be sure on that.

I couldn't recall their titles but I knew they looked like wandering healers. I had a WW I gave away the last time I quit UO on Great lakes to a guildie. It polymorphed into a ratman and for some odd reason never changed back. I had the only one on GL and it goes to show you how screwed up the economy is on Osi that I was offered 80 mil for it. lol, I probably could get a screeny of that if my guildmate still has it.

Sounds like Baracoon poly'd it into a ratman, and it was perma.

Just as quick proof that it was in game.

Mini-Update May 11 2000 10:20AM CST
Fixes for wandering shopkeepers, pets, lock downs, and young players.
Wandering shopkeepers will now teleport to return to their shops
‘Young’ players teleporting to Britain will be placed in the correct location
Shopkeepers may no longer be poisoned
Pets with the ability to polymorph will no longer automatically receive murder counts It will no longer be possible to lock items down on the steps of other players’ houses

I'm still doing research currently to see if I can find when it was completely patched out or in for that matter.
