That's a well known scam vendor. Usually selling empty spellbooks and runebooks, blank maps as treasure maps (labelled "a tattered treasure" to fool the unwary)

I was scammed the same way. Such a pity, especially for a new player as myself that's been saving money to buy his first spellbook. Fortunately I came across a good soul , a guy who gave me a spellbook for free so I could train in peace.

From what I found out during these few weeks here, you will find all sorts of people here. Good and bad ones. I hope you come across the good ones more often.

Yeah, you have to watch that brules. I have it on good authority that he co-owns newbies to the free houses then comes in at a later date and changes the locks with their stuff inside. Then he has the audacity to demand a ransom from what I gather.

I have purchased bogus weaponry from the Brit Gate vendors. It is well known amongst the community that they are scam vendors.

My mistake for not bringing an ID wand with me.

A word to newbies: The probability of you getting scammed, ganked, shanked, stranded, kidnapped, shanghai'd and generally abused are 100%. Learn to protect yourself. Do not carry ANY valuable that you can not stand to lose. Bring ID wands to all vendors. Use brokers to buy and sell placed housing. Don't ever put ANYTHING in a trade window that is too large for you to carry; someone will hide and it will drop and then anyone can grab it.

This is the wild, wild west. As long as you know that then this can be a very exciting and rewarding game. You want to keep your phat lewts after you die then go get your Trammel on in WoW.

This vendor is near the Britain's moongate. I bought a runebook that was labelled as "All dungeon entrances", and it was empty.

Now you know.
