question about hirelings

Post by Budner »

I'm trying to macro macing/tactics/healing and hired an NPC fighter. I say "all guard me" which turns him grey, then I attack him to start the melee, but when I say "all stay" he keeps attacking me. How do I get him to sit there while I pound him? Thanks.

I tried this:

"Hire the NPC, then Go in war mode (click it so you stay in war don't use TAB), then type: All Guard Me (NPC will turn grey), attack him, Hide or run a few screen away so he stop following you, Go back to the NPC and type: All Stop, All Follow Me and voila!

The NPC will be grey to you and you will auto-attack him.
He will be blue to the other, he wont attack you and he will follow you."

I follow these instructions exactly, but I don't auto-attack him. After saying "all stop" then "all follow me" he just sits there. If I attack him again, he fights back. What am I doing wrong?

A few screens could be too far, depending on how you read those instructions. You want to run just a little further than offscreen from the NPC, just enough so that his healthbar disappears/status bar grays out. That way, when you run back, he'll be chilling there, but you'll still have him targeted. Run too far and you'll come back with neither of you fighting eachother.

Also the order I used the commands in was All Guard Me -> attack -> All Follow Me -> All Stay -> run off screen, run back -> All Stay again, which worked like a charm, but i'm sure it works in the other order too.
