stools for bridged towers

stools for bridged towers
Why when I place my stools on the tower wing to make a bridge to cross over to the next (connected) tower it is as if I cannot walk on the stool? any ideas? Or is there only one that stools can be placed in a path? Bc I bought the tower with stools already placed in a one tile path and I was just trying to add to it to widen my bridge. any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated. thx
