really don't see the need for posioning on the build even if you intended to use the weapons if you are worried about charges carry a extra dp weapon or use greater poison which gives more charges on the weapon. i also feel that macing is superior weapon skill as far as "defensive" goes with a melee thief and i have had many many thief builds from applejacks to others etc and to house looting builds not even focused on stealing i have gmed steal and stealth so many times.

Re: Hey Guys - New Here - Thief Build?
If you have stealth, hiding both GM and some invis jewelry it is actually very hard to die as a thief out of town. My thief probably dies least of all my chrs.
Just hit the invis item then you can insta stealth away.

Re: Hey Guys - New Here - Thief Build?
I started dexer thief. I'm in the process of switching him to stealth/mage/thief thing-a-ma-bob. Town stealing is useless for the most part, I for one am sick of getting instantly whacked by an npc calling guards from the other side of a wall. I want to get around and sneak up on people with good loot

Re: Hey Guys - New Here - Thief Build?
I wouldn't mix stealing and lockpicking on the same character. Lockpicking is a loot gaining skill for dungeons. Stealing is for interacting with players. You have a lot of character slots, so you're better off making two characters, one for dungeon loots and one for stealing (and generally being a pain in the ass).Kuroi wrote:would a build like this work good?

Wrestling needs to be at GM. I would recommend dropping lockpick, GMing wrestling, and adding GM resist. Some people prefer less or no resist, but I prefer to max out defensive power on my thieves.
Also, check out the stealing entry at wiki.uosecondage.com

Re: Hey Guys - New Here - Thief Build?
@chumbucket: yeah i know we got a lot of char slots but i would play just one char... i have no time to develop 2 chars and i want to play as much as i can :\ i guess i'll go for 100 wrestling and drop medit then, if lockpicking doesn't satisfy me i'll go for resisting spells

I wouldn't bother with lockpicking unless you're doing a cartographer. Dungeon chests rarely have good shit.

Re: Hey Guys - New Here - Thief Build?
Even you only make one character, I would definitely pick a thief or a lockpucker rather than a char that is both. Lockpicking doesn't help with being a thief here. Its an entirely different kind of character. Would make as much sense as a thief with cooking unless you roleplay or something.

Parry
Wrestling
Magery
Meditation
Resist
Snooping
Stealing
is good for snooping and setting last target between steal attempts
especially in a chaos/order Guild where you get a big boost to AR from Guild sheilds
Lockpicking on a thief character is only good for town rares

Re: Hey Guys - New Here - Thief Build?
I wouldn't recommend this. Parry isn't that effective and it interferes with casting spells and if you are sitting there getting hit a lot you aren't playing a thief well.archaicsubrosa77 wrote:Parry

I would recommend that if you want to play a pure thief (i.e., steal from people) make the stealth-thief template on the stealing wiki entry. From there, you can tinker with it as you see fit. You might look at changing it to one of Matron de Winter's templates, which tend to be the best templates if you are experienced and well-equipped.
