Why is AFK Reagent Buying NOT Illegal?

But yeah, if you wanted to make this "fair"...ie...risk for the reward, you would just have to do a few simple things:

1.) Move the Bankers to the West room of the Bank (out of range).
2.) Make the NPC Mages walk through people, so they cannot be boxed in.
3.) Move the Town Crier about 8 tiles to the SW.

Then the players could exact justice and actually have a fair shot at fighting this tactic. As it is, there is a completely unlevel playing field between fighting this tactic and using this tactic. Therein lies the setup for blatant abuse, as Ivy has openly admitted to. In all fairness, though, Ivy is not the only guilty party.

I have to say since afk regent buying generates income with no effort, that it should be illegal. You can't even fish from shore anymore, but you can buy thousands of regs for markup? It's close to borderline enough but yeah I'd have to say it's a form of gold farming, if convoluted

all afk resource gathering no matter what the cost is should be banned. no other games allow afk anything, the fact we have razor to macro skills is stupid when compared to other games, but in light of the effort actually needed to raise said skills its very reasonable that its allowed. however its not reasonable that someone can hit play and suddenly gather all regs from vendors then sell them at their own vendors for a higher price and neither is it acceptable that miners arent allowed to mine afk in light of this.

Derrick has stated it's legal. Until he reverses that decision, your opinion is that, your opinion. If you don't like it, how about starting a CONSTRUCTIVE thread in the appropriate forum stating unbiased and unemotional facts as to why this behavior is not era accurate and how it should be changed. If you haven't been here long enough and/or haven't noticed, crying about something doesn't get something fixed (not quickly at least).

This entire post has been nothing but a cry fest about something nobody has stopped me from doing despite all of the complaints and suggestions on how to combat afk reg buying. Sure, Lightshade and Co. wasted a bunch of their time a few nights bombing me and the NPC's, and definitely succeeded in slowing the rate of reagents going into my bank, but they stopped each time (I assume they went to bed) while I did not, and I was able to restart my macros and run them for 12+ hours unabated (restarted after server up).

Contrary to the popular belief, I do agree that AFK reg buying in this manner is silly and should be dealt with a change of in game mechanics. I do not agree that there should be a policy change, as buying regs afk via a razor recall macro can be extremely risky even for the most well thought out macro. Additionally, since 99% of you have never really bought regs AFK, you can't understand that having your gold tied up in store bought resources is an entirely different ball game then AFK mining/lumberjacking. Maybe at one point you could turn around regs really quickly, but nowadays everyone under the sun has a reg vendor and unless you market your reg vendors day in and day out, you're not going to get the volume of customers to really turn a great profit in a timely manner.

The bottom line here is that there are many different legal ways to make gold AFK, buying regs to resell is currently one of them. Almost all of these ways amount to a trivial amount of income that it's almost not worth tying up an account or two or three to do. Please ensure you read the rules often so you are up to date with what is current legal and what is not. If there is any doubt in your mind as to what you or someone else is doing is legal or not, contact staff first to get an answer.

I do not see how this is unfair. Everyone is allowed to buy regs and setup a macro if they so desire.

I'm sure it's just my bad luck, but when I recall around the shops (not including T2a), more often than not the mages selling reagents have no more than 20-80 per reagent. I too am baffled at what you are trying to say WHY RU ATTACKNG ME BRAH??!

I stumble across the 20-80 reagent "problem" too...

The regs are purchased (by me), and I recall to another shop (rinse, repeat). Since I'm patient I still wind up with a reg chest full of goodies that will suit my needs for a week......

I'll be damned if I pay some stupid mark up at a player run shop.

If you check'em everyday, you'll find them bought up eventually, usually by players actually playing the game.
