We need to get Bill Gates addicted to UOSA, so he can put the Microsoft team to work making a leet connection to the server.

Anyone have his email?

Could someone please elaborate on why the item count would not be a consideration? I've noted an increase in lag at about the same time I started seeing a few hundred stacked items at brit bank every day and dozens of cats in the event rooms. However, since I'm both new to the shard and claim no expertise in server traffic I have no grounds to interpret these observations as the cause of increased lag.

There are hundreds of thousands of items on the shard, Derrick has stated before that the shard as the ability to handle much more of capacity than it has now. It's definitely some sort of network issue somewhere along the line.

It's entirely a network problem. You see increased lag when there are more items becuase your client is receiving more updates over the network.

I've just signed us up for a new server in a new location that is highly rated. I've done some testing with some of our players, some that were having troubles, and some that weren't, including those overseas, and the general consensus (besides those that live virtually next door to our current server) is that ping times are either about the same, or much improved.

We plan to have the transition completed by next week.

Awesome!

Any chance you could give us a location or possibly even a url to ping? :)

EDIT: Derrick just said in IRC that it is moving to Toronto.

In uotracert I pinged 16 avg! Canada takes the upperhand!

Are people still experiencing this lag ? I ping pretty well here (around 60) but I get 2-3 second lag spikes every once in a while. Is this common ?

The lag spikes are the lag we are speaking of. It's all being taken care of, by January 15th I believe.

Big thanks to Derrick, I know this isn't easy to look into servers or even make the move.
