Any interest in the Crossroads?

Post by fancy shirt »

As I'm sure most of you know, brit xroads was a major place of activity back in the day. Across most (if not all) production servers, this was a regular place to pvp, duel, or simply find interaction. Sadly, here on UOSA, that's not the case.

As it is, the place receives little attention beyond players traveling through. And while it does have a nice tavern, inn, and rune library, it still has little to draw in players and keep them returning.

It'd be nice to generate some interest here through vendors. Establish this place as a vendor hotspot and thus generate some activity here, which in turn could develop into a place to find other players and find pvp beyond brit gy. Likewise, it'd be nice to have a place to find consistent and well maintained vendors beyond Yew moongate. Not that there's anything wrong with either of these locations, but switching things up would be nice too.

Anyway, if anyone's interested in setting up shop here, I really think this could develop into something. I think most players would like to start coming back to this area purely for nostalgia's sake, they just need a reason to do so.

How cool would it be to have brit xroads still a popular place to find pvp after all these years, recreating a classic hotspot here on UOSA? :D

Ideas and comments welcome...if anyone's interested in getting involved reply here or send a pm...Thanks!

Order/chaos Wars, would be a solution.

Maybe someone should move their guild stone out there....

Hey fancy, nice to have met you in-game earlier.

I have a small house directly at the x-roads and think it could be a good location for vendors. I have set up house and vendor (right now only got some random stuff on it) about 3-4 days ago and already have had 35 visits without any advertising and sold some stuff. So I think if a few more vendors set up shop around the crossroads could be a good location for shoppers.

And naturally on OSI Servers the crossroads always have been a hot spot.

I hope we may find some other home owner or people who want to build to make this location more attractive.

I used to own both smalls, directly on the intersection of brit x-roads.

Vendor business was terrible, and there was almost no "thru" traffic either. I tried to sell the houses for other people to use as vendors but nobody was interested, so eventually I just deeded both of them.

Good idea, but good luck actually getting people out there.

Vendoring is as simple as Consistently Bumping your Vendors Thread in the forums, Consistently advertising in IRC Trade Channels and Occasionally Main, Consistently stocking your wares, and having consistently low prices. You can put a vendor in the middle of the bog if you do it right. I think Sexy Smithy's Vesper Beach Vendor was a testament to that, when she actually played.

Just have to have that "consistent" aspect to your enterprise...which most vendors here do not.

Good Luck.

That's a really good idea Sheer, O/C is something I hadn't considered.

Actually, that could serve to both reestablish the crossroads as a pvp hotspot and also help to renew some interest in O/C. I'm not very experienced when it comes to guild wars, but if magery is limited in O/C, due to town-fighting, then a new pvp hotspot outside of guardzones could be fun.

I agree that the place isn't the most active currently (thus why I posted to begin with, heh), however there has been some regular through traffic here lately as Strom pointed out. Regardless, any location can become a hub for activity if enough effort is put in.

No place becomes a vendor hotspot because of "thru" traffic, but instead because enough players decide to set up shop there, thus attracting other players. The same could easily be done here. That is, if enough players decide to join in and open vendors here then it will attract other players. It's just a matter of coordinating and getting enough players to sign on to the idea. Considering this area's history, I think it's worth the effort.

For the record, I own the other house across the intersection (opposite of Strom's) as well as three other houses in the area. If anyone were seriously interested in helping get the crossroads going again (and thus bringing in good business to the individual  ) I could work something out with selling a good spot on the road or even allow players to setup vendors in one of my houses, free of charge. I'll help out anyone who wants to develop here. I'd just like to see this place going again.

If you have good pricing and CONSTANT supply then it doesnt matter where your vendors are they will be successful. As long as you plug your pricing and products on the Forum you wont have any trouble.

Welcome to the neighborhood! Glad to see more vendors coming to the area. It's still a work in progress, with only a handful of vendors in the area, but already I've been seeing some more traffic here.

My offer still stands....If anyone is interested in running a vendor at the crossroads, you can use my house at the intersection, free of charge.

Also, there might still be some open house spots near the crossroads if anyone wants to try to place themselves. Some of the spots might be tight, but I think there's room for a couple smalls nearby.

i am very interested and miss the action there. if my memory serves me right, the pvp at the xroads was a tier above the GY riffraff (maybe because players posted up further from the guard zone). don't get me wrong, the xroad frequenters would go to the GY, but the xroads was a happenin spot is really my point.

i'd love to see the same thing happen here, but we need a little more population. double the active population and we will see xroad action.

This was also correct on LS where I played. I could remember massive brawls like a screen away from my pad which was a small distance SE of the crossroads. It was its own PvP/Vendor city and was very convenient. But yeah... I guess we would need a few hundred more peeps on though.
A dream... It's something you do for yourself, not for others.

One reason the crowds were a site of action was the untold numbers of newness and people who otherwise didn't know how to play up walked everywhere, mostly along the.roads. Hence, a lot of people passed through and were easy targets.
