Just wanna say thanks to the person that looted my stuff...
Died on the corner of the long tan building at the end of the road south of Empathy Abbey in Yew. around 3:30ish central time halloween. In less then 5 min someone came along and looted all my stuff. I know it's part of the game and part of the risk, but it was all noobie gear. Bone armor and a couple magical weapons that someone disgarded around the bank.
Just wanna say thanks alot! Didn't even give me a chance to get my stuff back.
Grrrrrrrrrrr....Ughhhhh...

Re: Just wanna say thanks to the person that looted my stuff
As much as I'd like to put it in a nice way, it is simply UO. This game is unforgiving and has no real rules that anyone follows. If you die at the hand of a PK or not, your stuff is at risk. Heck, my first week on this server I died to my own blade spirit and spent the next hour failing miserably to recover my corpse. Still coming back to the game I entirely forgot about my Teleport spell which would have allowed me to avoid this whole ordeal.
Total loss? About 4k in gold, 100+ of each reg, 3 horses, and probably 10 potions. Very disheartening for a new player that has nothing to his name. I had to go farm at a graveyard just to buy a new horse before I could attempt to begin farming higher areas again.
Took the day off from the game, came back the next and since then I have farmed over 50k gold. During this time I have had PK's storm me at least once per day and I was able to escape each time. Nothing is saying that I couldn't have died though and lost more stuff.
To make a long story short, sorry you lost your stuff but you will get over it. The beauty of this game is even though its full-loot, everything you are using is more or less dispensable and can be easily replaced especially after you build your nest egg. Regs can be replaced, potions, even armor and weapons can be replaced. Don't go out with stuff you can't afford to lose or replace if you are concerned with having a hard time recovering from a PK or other death.
Learn to adapt to your surroundings and think outside the box. Always, always, always be prepared for a PK. Don't trust people just because their name is blue.
This morning in Destard I seen a blue run by named Johnny Cash. Less than 5 minutes later a red named almost exactly the same is attacking me. One important part of this game and especially this server is to understand that most PK's will have other characters to scout with if they so choose. They may even have their friends scouting for them as a blue name and then reporting the info back. Could Mr. Cash had been the same character and PKed someone else in a lower level of Destard before returning to me? Sure, but I doubt it seeing as how if he's out for blood he would have just took me on to begin with which makes me believe he has two.
Had I let the initial encounter with the blue Cash let me feel more at ease about my surroundings I could have easily not noticed him in time when he came back on me. I barely escaped as it was due to him interrupting my initial recall but it was an escape none-the-less with loot on hand.
Hopefully my experiences outlined above can help you in some way or another. If nothing else perhaps it will go to show you that this stuff happens every single day on this server to more people than just you. It's just a part of playing here. If you decide you can't deal with these things day-to-day you are on the wrong side of Trammel.

*Sniff* *Sniff* It brings a tear to my eye to know that my loving PKs have touched yet another tender heart.

I dont personally take offense, as I do it as well!
I find so much humor in UO that I laugh even when Im the butt of the joke.

Without coming off rude, this is why I played UO in 1998, and this is why I just joined UOSA couple days ago.
The game plays with your emotions. There is risk, there is danger, it is unforgiving. Going out into a dungeon farming gold has its risk, from players and monsters. That's what makes this game so exciting!
