I have a friend that got 27 silver and i bet he didnt even do half of the houses 1st 2nd 3rd ppl did.
10 gold say he multi accounted to get that. The winner didn't specify, he just said it was 20 somethin, so it could potentially have been 29. I myself got 20 even.

Also, I would guess there was a 1%-2% chance of getting silver every house. That's pretty high for such a rare commodity.

might have been luck.

I am gonna go with luck, having visited about 1500 houses and netted 2 silver, one of which I lost to mobs on Dagger.

That's truly awful. I was averaging at least 1 silver per 100 at first, with little variance, then I got on a lucky streak.

Sorry yo.

I think this would be a good idea, however, would it be possible to prevent silver from spawning on creatures such as mongbats, wolves, etc? I mean, yes they are good to be killed, but there should be certain level critters that just have 0% spawn rate of such a rare commodity. That way we would be focusing on the true evil forces the plague the land like orcs, skeletons, ettins, trolls, ogres etc.

Also, and I cannot be hanged for saying this, because I know I have seen randomly spawned creatures, (I have killed a bridge troll in Shadowmire, I have killed a randomly spawned red NPC guy in Britain, etc.) What if silver had a chance to spawn on monsters such as these that would randomly spawn anywhere in the lands? Perhaps instead of spawning on just "any" critter in the world, what if silver only had chance to spawn from medium creatures and/or on certain 'special' creatures randomly spawned throughout?

In the end, I support any idea that will get players out into all areas of the land including the forests, fields, ruins, and hedge mazes! Just getting gold is not enough, UO was not built to be a game of gold farmers and pixel hoarders! It is a glorious realm where people can Role Play as villains, heroes, or just regular upstanding citizens! I would love to be able to walk out of my two story, see more heroes attacking a nearby ogre and help (or attack) the hero and have something more than just a pile of gold to add to all the other piles that I don't need or want. I crave interesting and fun interaction with others. As it stands, there isn't much opportunity to randomly interact with many people unless you join a large guild or hang out around WBB (and around WBB the majority of the conversation revolves around pre-pubescent teens dropping vulgar remarks about their fixation on male and female anatomy, or other spamming of annoying messages). It would be nice if you didn't have to make a split second decision to fight, flee, or interact, anytime somebody shows up in your screen and if you could have a greater chance of meeting somebody out in the open field.

I feel ya on most of the unquoted portion, but this statement is the core of UO. If you have the bravery to venture from the safety of town, one must always be prepared for fight, flight or friend. (or death)

Thanks Blaise! I must admit all my thoughts usually require 2-3 revisions before I actually express what I mean in a way that makes sense to everyone.

I agree with your rebuttal here completely. One should be prepared at all times in order to survive a harsh realm. I think what I was meaning with this is it would be nice if you could have a chance sometimes (i emphasize sometimes) to interact with your opponent before they pull out a blitzkrieg. However upon reading your reply I see the fallibility in my message here. One should always be prepared to meet danger head-on. Also, I suppose it is a bit much to expect an evil marauder give some grand tirade before they commence with the murdering. Perhaps this means, that despite my perception, these evil men are still afraid to some degree that the populous will rise up against them. Take no prisoners!
