Resist uncertainty
i originally posted this in the guides section, which was obviously not the correct place so i'll paste it here:
it seems like i'm hitting a wall at 61.0 resist. been casting ebolt since my magery hit 63 (even though my resist wasn't 63) but ever since i switched from lightning to ebolt resist has slowed to a crawl and seemingly stopped at this point. should i change spell depending on magery instead of resist (skill level) or wait to change from lightning to ebolt until resist catches up to 63?
at this point i'm just over 70 magery (shown) and resist IIRC is not moving at 61.0. just kind of wondering if resist gains slow down during the transition from 60's-70's and then picks up the pace towards the higher end of the ebolt stage/before flame strike.

Re: Resist uncertainty
sorry i forgot to mention i already gm'ed eval before anything else.
Re: Resist uncertainty
Lightning won't work as it's level 4 like fire field, so it should be capped at 55.0 as well.
I think Energy Bolt is the right call at this stage... gains might speed up as you get higher in skill, because gains are more likely to come from successful resists than failures.

Re: Resist uncertainty
that is what i was thinking, but i tend to second guess myself a lot... bad habit.
Re: Resist uncertainty
Also note that you cannot gain magic resist in a guarded region.
[14:17] <UOSAPlayer4056> cr3w guild is a joke. Ran by staff members, multi client pking, this shards a joke and a half.

This is wrong. You can gain magic resists in a guarded area.Sandro wrote:Also note that you cannot gain magic resist in a guarded region.

Re: Resist uncertainty
As long as the caster is outside the guardzone and the person being casted on is inside the guard zone. Hence the use of NPC mages and WWs.PhoenixStarr wrote:This is wrong. You can gain magic resists in a guarded area.Sandro wrote:Also note that you cannot gain magic resist in a guarded region.
Also, lightning can be taken to 62.9 for resist just like magery. Don't know why, since fire field stops at 55, but you can.

Re: Resist uncertainty
Can actually go up to 65 resist with lightning, 85 with ebolt. Unless that has been changed VERY recently, however there are no patch notes regarding this so I doubt so.OneEyedJack wrote:Also, lightning can be taken to 62.9 for resist just like magery. Re: Resist uncertainty
I believe you're right nightshark.

Dunno how I missed this before, but this is way wrong.nightshark wrote:Can actually go up to 65 resist with lightning, 85 with eboltOneEyedJack wrote:Also, lightning can be taken to 62.9 for resist just like magery. Don't know why, since fire field stops at 55, but you can.

Blade gained resist at least to 80.3 via Lightning, back in the day.
I'll start a post in the Era Accuracy forum with more thoughts on this.
