If you folks really want new players to stay, the key is to at least provide them with a modicum of support. I couldn't get anyone to give me 150 gold so I could learn healing and buy cloth. I even offered to pay double the amount on another unnamed server for gold here, and I couldn't find a single taker.
If I didn't hear the pvp was really exceptional here, I would have logged out never to return after about five minutes. Just my two cents. =)

Heh, that's not my point. I've already gotten over the initial hump, but had I been even slightly less motivated to play here, I would have said screw it and started on a server with more helpful players. I do not doubt that this is a common occurrence.

2- You have 3 accounts, 5 chars per account, 100 gold per start. That is 1500 gold.
3- I would have given you 10-30k if you wernt such a baby and asked like an adult not an eight year old. Many other players also would have helped you out with gold as well.

An active playerbase of around 40-50 people where the economy is so screwed that they are throwing 100k at anyone who joins just so that they can attempt to keep players on a dead and ruined shard? BRACE YOURSELF! you are about to have an epiphany in what a 'waste of time' really means after playing on divinity for about 40 hours of in game time not spent macroing.
Hybrid? have a good time farming 15 million gold to just be able to buy a 7x7 small house.
Any other shard? enjoy having nobody to play with/playing ultima online in single player mode - Which I'm sure judging by your people skills and how you approach complete strangers you won't have a problem doing.

So if I was you, I would shut up, jump on irc underneath a different name since you have already pissed away any opportunity at anyone helping you, and ask for gold.
Now seeing as its early as hell and people are WORKING - being a bitch and asking for gold instead of working for it like everyone else does and/or did, it may take a bit of time before you find someone that is on that can give you that amount of gold, but later on in the evening it shouldnt be a problem, especially seeing as its the weekend.

What goal would that serve? I haven't played UO in 9 months, so I didn't realize -- if your assessment is correct -- that there really is no other alternative to SA. Still, even if there is not much competition, I see no downside in assisting new players.

i love the fact that i dont have groups of 15 7x mages with wands in vent synching me inbetween their sessions of jerking off and downing 2 litres of mountain dew. it is the closest ive felt to the olden days.
everyone in + - was nobody on osi, and only got good after playing years of player run shards and thousands of hours in ventrillo.
the pvp here is actually playable in small gorups and fun
i pk and find lots of kills.
