Lock picking and detect hidden?

Post by Maehix »

Do you need detect hidden on a lock picker? More of a thunter not just a chest popper.

If you have less than GM Lockpicking, you need 60 Detect Hidden to open Level 5 Treasure Map chests, with the 95 Lockpicking you get from macroing on GM made boxes.

Lockpicking is incredibly slow to gain above 95 and detect hidden is incredibly easy to get to 60, so you may as well get 60 skill in DH (unless your build needs the 60 points for something else, in which case you won't be able to do level 5 chests for quite a while)

if you dont want to spend those 60 points you can always make a 2nd "dummy" character with 95lp / detect that is used entirely to open lv5 chests. it's very fast and cheap to make. i used this character until i gmed my lockpicking on my carto and then deleted it.

typically i would gate the character in, pick the chest and then suicide open to disable the trap
