Melee gain very slow. wth?
Melee gain very slow. wth?
Its has taken me almost 2 hours just to get from 30.0 to 47.0 macing...with 100 dex....can someone explain this to me? i can understand slow gains after 50 or 60 but wth...
Re: Melee gain very slow. wth?
What are you attacking? Like many skills, if you start off trying to fight something that is too powerful or two weak you wont' get gains.

I have GM'D Macing and nearly Tactics on my Smith <50 dex> in the last 18 hours. That was from 20, too lazy to buy it up. Unless I'm just hogging all the gains, you gotta be doing something wrong. Have you: Hired a Fighter from the West Brit Bank Inn ?? Using a Wand for a practice weapon? Dunno what else to say...Meradin wrote:Its has taken me almost 2 hours just to get from 30.0 to 47.0 macing...with 100 dex....can someone explain this to me? i can understand slow gains after 50 or 60 but wth...

While this is quite the newb advice, it worked for me and it was more satisfying than leaving my character locked in a house with a hired warrior/paladin. My suggestion is to go to Jhelom graveyard and raise until it becomes too easy, then go to the city of the dead north of Delucia to GM. I raised 2 characters that way, made a decent amount of gold and had plenty of items including decent silver and power/force stuff. If you don't care and would rather play with a full GM character than you should just use the hired fighter way.

30-47 in two hours doesn't seem too unreasonable. From 30 until about 90, the rate of skill gain on melee seems almost linear throughout and then slows down a bit.
