Say for example i wanted to raise strength by herding, can i actually raise my str witout raising the herding itself? or do i need to raise herding as im doing it to raise the str.
failing that anyone got any quick ideas for raising str rather quickly

Unless it's changed, the skill just needed to be in the ^ position in order to gain a stat point from it. I used to alter my stats on my 7x on a whim just by locking every skill and putting the one I want to use going up.

Yeah, just pick a skill that easy to AFK macro back up (like Anat or Eval, or whatever doesn't cost money to raise).
I macro'd Herding and went from 16 Strength to 100 in a matter of about 12-16 hours or so, and wound up with 98+ Herding.

the skill cap method can max your stats in like 2 hours afk if you are 0.0 in the skills you are using to gain stats
