Erek sucks Red Sword
If you see him, he's blue and scouting for 2+ Reds. And he's really lame. lol. Watched him for almost 20 minutes.

Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
Yup, Shallowgrave and Diogonese use a scout- usually under a disguise kit.
For two players so well equipped, they really do a good job making sure no actual skill is needed to PK.
They're tools in my opinion- seems to take fun out of the kill, but if that's what they enjoy- good for them.

What's the scouts name?
And yea any pks who uses ghosts/scouts are totally lame. Why take the thrill of finding players?

Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
There are always occasional exceptions...but you all may be happy to know the orcs don't use tracking alts or ghosts 99% of the time. (I say 99% because I can't speak with 100% certainty for every orc every minute of the day).
Many of our orcs have tracking, hell, my mojoka (magic user) has tracking as one of his 7 skills. And Ne'rull will occasionally kill a peon and make him check for ghosts. But we find that half the fun is having 15 orcs rush through a dungeon and watching some person shit a brick and recall as fast as they can

PKing is a pretty barren profession on a small shard like this.
You can spend an hour with a tracker, recalling in when you find someone, and end up with 6 fights.
Or you can spend an hour running around yourself, with 0 tracking, and find 2 fights.
Using a scout is about 10% risk management and 90% not wanting to run for 30 minutes without finding anyone. At least in my opinion.

Tracking is also, by far, the most fun skill in the game. With a GM tracker, you find so many amusing things around the shard. I can't tell you how many PKs I put into stat loss by finding them hidden somewhere and just leading an Orc over to do them in.
Right now, there is likely someone sitting hidden in a dungeon, AFK and getting a snack or something, and no one knows about it because no one uses Tracking.

Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
The problem is that scouts is why you can't find anyone without scouts. Due to ghosting (whether pks or people hunting), everyone can make sure they aren't where you want them to be. If derrick would pull the trigger and take this shard to a siege perilious ruleset...i bet you'd have more in dungeon people. Less people could recall, less chars/accounts (if it went that far) means less ghosting. It'd be a major boon.Mikel123 wrote:PKing is a pretty barren profession on a small shard like this.

Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
I am a big fan of the tracking skill. It's one of the tools of my trade, and it would be insane to even try to find people out at sea without using that particular skill.

Hythloth Tower for Sale. Contact Boondock_Saint via PMs because it's his and not mine. Azheman will broker the deal, naked.
Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
Well that's not true. If I'm farming in a dungeon, how does Tracking/ghosting help me avoid being there when someone else shows up? It's tedious, and ineffective, for me to be tracking every 10 seconds while I'm in the process of killing liches.Ronk wrote:The problem is that scouts is why you can't find anyone without scouts. Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
Well, I meant more the ghosting aspect. While farming on one char you can have ghosts on two other accounts watching entrances or areas out side of your sight. Then when you see someone you can recall before they ever get to you.Mikel123 wrote:Well that's not true. Tracking wise, you could set up a macro which just continually tracks every 10 seconds. Given how empty dungeons are once you notice that someones name pops up you can check and determine whether to leave.
Re: Erek sucks Red Sword
I hear ya... seems like a lot of prep work to me, but given the amount of effort people put in these days for dragon turrets, archer bots, gate traps, and whatever else... well, you're probably right.
